Shit I know the Marine Corp Hymn but I can't say I know much about the Army with the exception of all that i have been researching about the Rangers History and the history of the Special Forces

Well I grew up around alot of Marines...For some reason I always wanted to be a little different...I guess the Army was pushing it a bit to much for some in the faimly...

Not as long as you stay fit, stay sharp (uniform never looking nasty or your personal hygiene) and you are loyal, faithful and ready put your sack on the line anywhere, anytime!

Sounds like I'm good to go then...I hope I can remain mentally strong through my basic and continue to have the courage to volunteer as many times as it takes to get into Airborne and Ranger training

Dude, shoot for Green Berets they get into the shit almost as much as the Marines and the training is actually fairly tough. But yeah, start off with jump school, rangers.

As a former Ranger I must say that you are in for the time of your life. I did not realize how much I miss being a Ranger.
I'll be back shortly.
As far as the green beret are concerned you must wait till you are a E-4 or higher to go to SFAS.
I never when into SF. I would rather shoot someone in the face than train a some third world country to fight.
Remember:
Hard times don't last; Hard men do!!
Be motivated and listen to everyone, fellow rangers and the tabbed rangers when you get to the Batt.
Your first few days are going to be rough because they continue to smoke the shit out of you to see if you quit.
Never quit. It will end.
Then when you establish yourself, go to Ranger school, get your tab, and return the favor to the cherries and teach them.

Thanks...I've talked to a few who have earned the honor of calling themselves Rangers...A neighbor of mine whom I met before moving back to houston was a Ranger Instructor through the late 70's early 80's

He talked about half an hour about everything even though it was on 9-11 and told me no matter what just dont quit...Words and a conversation I will never forget even with everything that was going on that day.

If they dont want me then they will have to throw me out cause I'm not quiting no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT.

my adventure begins in less then 10 days....NOV 13

Even though my mos will be a Comm job when I was asked my intentions at Mepps I told them I'm going to volunteer for Airborne and Ranger training and a Tabbed Ranger looked at me in eyes, looked at the Sgt doing my paper work whom intern told me I'll be going to Ft Benning for Basic.
