LOL, do you remember how he got there? it was from hosting the awards, it was a sweep! lol

Yup, and I bet there are those that think it was from daily Gjohnson plat bombs.

I lost 17 million in one night because of a fucking quirk and I was too nice a guy to cancel the event for everyone involved.

Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis
Actress: Julie Christie
Supporting Actor: Javier Barden
Supporting Actress: Amy Ryan

Oscars = boring.

Movies that "critics" like win awards. Not what "people' like, which is what's reflected in revenue totals.

Did even any Star Wars 4, 5, 6 win Best Picture awards?

I watched Juno. Boring. We Own the Night was exciting. Guess which movie was nominated.

Movies that 60 and 70 year old Academy members win awards.

Oscars will improve about 10 years from now when most of the old member pass on.

There needs a new category called "Best Film that Blows Shit Up Really Good" and give the oscar for Rambo

Oscars are MORE important to Actors, than producers/studios, etc. While it's great to release a movie on DVD with the title 'Oscar nominated picture', etc. - it really doesn't translate to higher sales than usual. A Transformers will still outsell a Crash or Monsters Ball.

It IS awesome for talent. With an Oscar, producers LOVE to cast someone, and in the marketing, use it to their advantage : "A coming of age story staring Oscar Nominated actor Brian Lestat, and up and coming new star Shirley Vodka'.

Plus it immediately extends their acting career. They can be 50 and still do movies with 'and starring Oscar Nominated actor....'. Ben Kingsley winning with Ghandhi, set him up as a serious actor forever. Just one role defined him for an entire career. If his first movie was a comedy, he'd never be around. Even if that flick was #1 that weekend.

For us, the viewing public - the whole thing is meaningless. Unless you like watching the various women's outfits or something.

I lost all faith in the Oscars when I realized Johnny Depp, one of the greatest actors in the past century - still has never won an Oscar.

The Departed was a great movie (IMO) that did well at the Academy Awards.
Most winners are snoozers for my viewing tastes.
