how efficient is this machine?
i need to burn off my spare tire.
i havent done much on this, but it sure as hell gave me a burn.
would it help after my workout, help me burn off some of that esto-whatever-genetic fat i have?
its really annoying, u can see that i have abs, but there is 1/4 inch fatty layer over them, and a little more in my lower abdomin.

suggestions plz? no treadmill :)

i love the ELLIPTICAL.
i am not a fan of running, and enjoy using the elliptical that has the moving hand bars.
i seem to burn an extraordinary amount of calories on it. plus i love doing HIIT work on it.

one thing to keep in mind, i was recently informed at my gym that the elliptical can overestimate your calories burned by up 26%.

i only use it for rehabing injuries. the reason peeps like it is because its so low-impact also meaning it burns cals at a lower rate than running. If you cant do treadmill- try the stat. bike- but NOT the recumbent one!

i found that when i do a session on the elliptical, i burn alot more then running
is it efficient for burning cals? i would assume so,
i was thinking about starting over on it.
im not up for the treadmill as yet.....

would this also help me loose my roll? lol
how long should i stay on for and the intensity rate?

than your running at a steady-pace low intensity..if your not up for the treadmill, go to the track & hit 400s @ 90% of your max heart rate. Yould be on the elipitical all day trying to duplicate that ;)

anyway- your best bet for losing the roll is a clean diet.

My big problem with elliptical machines is that there are typically two 65lb fly wheels to balance the motion. Therefore if you don't have the resistance nearly all the way up then once you get it moving you aren't doing very much work (regardless of what the calorie meter says). If you have the resistance up enough to make each step require work than yes it is a great machine.

My problem with motorized treadmills is that you don't have to use the hamstring as much as actual running so the carry over isn't what you think it would be.

I like the bike/recumbant bike if all you want is to burn calories with low impact.

Yeah, I always have to jack the resistance way up otherwise I feel like i'm just going through the motions...i like it for HIIT when I'm busy and can't make a seperate trip to the track, but if I had my choice I'd rather to interval sprints outside on a track.

Olyptical + clam butter oil = super fast weight loss ;)

As for the elliptical machines, they're much better for your knees (treadmills and leg pressses screwed mine)
