im not a veteran gearhead, and ive only received a few packages of gear, but would it make sense to put 'dr.' and the name of your package? i was thinking of doing that or putting 'd.v.m.' after my name. thoughts and opinions?

Well i don't know if it would help at all really. I mean, gear is illegal, weather you are a judge, a cop or a doctor. And the package that is sent shouldn't have any indication by observers that is any kind of medical supply, pill or what ever anyway so it might be unnesesary.
And for whatever reason you did get busted you know damn well that the prosucuting attorney would say... "and your honor ... the defendant knew what he trying to buy something illegal and no it wasnt sent to him on accident because he even lied and said he was a doctor on the orderform for the illegal substance." Not that it would make any diffrence any way because youd be fucked anyway.

Man, my guy who sends me gear makes his packages look sort of professional on the labels stating that it's a marketing firm etc..with fake return addys..Trust me, I work at the po, as long as your packages aren't leaking, smelling funny and filled with drugs (pot, coke, tweak etc), those packages get ran through a sorting machine and never handled by anyone but the carriers and the guys/gals who put them on the conveyor belts/trucks.
