The myth: Weed makes you lazy

Is it? People use different things to make themselves happy. I'd say food is very common. Exercise is too. Alcohol especially. Some people thrive on stress. Others by simply collecting something. Why do you judge one person's source of happiness over another?

VERY TRUE!!!!!

how is that a myth. everyone i know from highschool who is still smoking in thier mid-twenties is doing jack! period. it almost ruined my life. just as bad as alcohol in my opinion, in the wrong hands.

This is completely wrong....you're generalizing such a small group of people. If you talk to me you get the complete opposite. Im doing better than many of my friends that dont smoke, and I smoke daily. I also have a few close friends that are VERY successful in life and business and they smoke daily too.

I think the effect of weed is somewhat personal. I tend to get a bit paranoid, but the paranoia is almost amusing. Weed tends to make me very introspective and also decreases my short term memory. It also raises my libido noticeably. Weed makes me lazy in one sense: I have difficulty multi-tasking and writing while stoned. It does however lend itself to me accomplishing long, engaging singular projects. Once I worked out stoned and it was interesting. I had extreme concentration. It helped me to dissasociate from the feelings of pain and fatigue while exaggerating the pleasant feeling of the contractions and pump. The appetite stimulation is almost frightening. I also notice that different strains produce slightly different attributes. They tend to exhibit an amplified version of one of the previously mentioned effects ie. more paranoia than others, more forgetfulness than others, more appetite than others, etc. Two strains did cause mild hallucinations, but I am not sure if they were "laced".

I know a couple of people who practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu while baked. It's popular with some professional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and MMA fighters apparently. Doesn't some big name football star (Ricky Williams?) keep getting busted with THC in his system?

I can see how "weed makes you lazy" became a popular myth. It is generally relaxing and slightly disassociative. That effect is desirable for some inherently lazy people. These folks will be lazy with or without the weed, although weed probably amplifies the effect. I'm also sure that some diligent people will experience over-relaxation. The effects are dose dependent too.

I love smoking out and then going for a drive, with the system bumping The Game's new shit.

I'm too lazy to read this whole thread and I am not doing weed, but weed makes one lazy. Super ass lazy
I don't mean one J here and there, I mean a constant stream of weed in the blood.

I should have clarified. Illicit drugs/narcotics like weed usually end up negatively affecting people around the user in addition to themselves. You shouldn't have to take stuff that impairs your abilities/judgement in the process of trying to feel better about yourself. There are better ways to do it, some like what you mentioned (food, exercise, and even alcohol if it doesn't lead to becoming a drunk). Most everyone college age goes through an experimental druggie phase, myself included, but eventually it's best to develop internal strength.

I quit drinking excessively, re-established ties with my family, stopped doing meth, and went back to school to dual major in molecular biology and history in part due to the introspection weed provided me all in the course of months. It has helped change me for the positive and hasn't harmed the people around me. I would have to say weed did the opposite of impairing my judgment in my case.

Right. And some people get happyness from crushing-up a few Oxycontins and stuffing them up their nose. Others get it from injecting a little heroin in their veins.
