The journal is now interactive

Ever wonder what the hell mini bands are? Do you know what an arched back vs a normal good morning is? Do you know how fast your speed should really be on speed day?

I had a bunch of people ask me all this stuff. I don't pretend to know the answers as well as Dave Tate and crew, but I am more than happy to share what I know, and pictures and videos are worth 1000 words.

So.... i decided a cool thing to do would be to make the journal interactive. You can now click on links in the journal to see some videos and pictures of the setup and exercises.

Right now, I just started a new training cycle for a meet in 8 weeks, so there are only a few links, but I expect it to grow, and I promise to try all sorts of wierd exercises.

In addition, we have someone that will be coming out and doing the video for us in exchange for training her so I should have a lot of videos now.

main page:

http://www.growordie.com

direct link to my training journal:

http://growordie.com/training/videos/alberta_training/alberta_training_journal.htm

I find myself asking Ano to describe all the stuff he does in his journal. He is kind enough to supply me with pictures all the time.

He sent me a new cool one of a cambered bar good morning. Be sure to check out ano's pics:

*Windows media player is required to view these videos. I hear that there are some other video programs that work (zoom?). Post if you need help.

Good luck and feedback is welcome unless it is to tell me that my HTML sucks (damnit jim... I am a programmer not an artist).

irish, that sounds like an awesome idea. if u want a flash intro or any spiffy stuff or a logo or any web help shoot me an email or pm and i'll try to lend a hand.

Hey Irish,

Zoom works to play the videos. Cool pics of Ano lifting too. He's a big sob. He's also got an awesome site.

I read some of his stuff on his board, do you know what he means by bench shorts? Can't really figure these out.

Thanks again for your site and help

bench shorts probably = bench shirts w/ a typo.. since the O is right next to the I, its easy to make the mistake.

remember, english is his second language. i don't think shorts mean shirts.

best thing to do is post on his forum and ask. he is really good about replying to me.

ill bet he is sick of seeing all the irishPower questions though ;)

okie: i will link zoom off of my page so people can download it.

also, we are working on a low bandwidth version. my partner figured out how to compress all the videos down so even a modem user can see stuff. we should have two versions available later today.

Great job on the site. New compressed stuff works great. Much quicker download for me.

I will send you some more video if you want it. And I will post my training journal as well, if you are interested.

irish: are u guys converting the videos into divx or just compressing them more? wmv is pretty compressed already compared to svcd or vcd. how much quality are you losing in the process?

personally i think zoom player is pretty ugly but you can d/l skins for it.

i like droudi which you can d/l here

just extract the files to (assuming u intalled zoom player into the default directory)...

C:\Program Files\Zoom Player\Skin

to change the skin: right click in zoom player where the video plays and choose skin selector and pick droudi

you can d/l more skins here if you don't like that one.

we are just using windows xp movie maker to change the sample rate.

Right now, I get the high quality at 768kbps right off my camera. We have experimented with compressing to 384, 128, and 56. I think we have decided to go with 128 for our low bandwidth solution.

I believe DivX and WMV both use variants of mpg4 compression. However, the WMV codec seems to work for most people. DivX requires a lot of people to download the codec separately.

Thanks for the other links!
