The hidden steroid side effect

Twitched

Bad grades in school, neglecting other responsibilities in order to cook up chicken breasts and get some "regeneration sleep", read the boards, etc etc.

I've always said that it's not the drug itself (this applies to recreational as well) that is bad, it's the things you are NOT doing when you are doting over them.

keep this in mind folks,

the man who failed this semesters finals hardcore,

twitched

No I know what Twitched is talking about..... I used to get great grades in school, now I spend a lot of my should-be studying time studying to find the perfect cycle, diet and training regimen.

This board is addicting, and so is the constant strive to better our bodies... in my eyes it is a fair trade.

You can turn any hobby, pasttime or simple recreational activity into a problem though, not just things like AAS and recreational drugs. Its all about how one choses to live thier life. SOme get sucked iinto work and become workaholics, others drugs, other sports.

Fair trade??? He didnt say he went from an A to a C. He flunked. Thats not a fair trade. I hate to tell ya but you cant by much gear selling slurpies at the 7 eleven, if your that dedicated to it then you should understand that maintaining it is expensive!!!,,Graduate school bro and get a real job,,,,,,,,best of luck to you and sorry to hear about the bad grades.

nothing to do with the gear bro, its called responsibilities and priorities. Need to find a balance.

I pulled a 3.867 (A,A,A,A,B+) my next to last semester. Pulled 4 A's and 1 C the last semester of school, and these were two of my hardest semesters. I was juicing, I was lifting, I was eating. I had to get my mind right. Run a schedule and take advantage of every minute. When I fail I blame no one but myself. Years ago I read on a church billboard "If you don't measure up, don't blame the ruler."

accountability

when taking gear you take on more responsibility than most think. You are geneticly altering your body...this must be done carefully and with cautioun. To think that you can accept this responsibility and yet disregaurd everthing else in your life is foolish. Be true to yourself and admit you f#*ked off and work harder. You have it in you or you would not train like you do.

nah man i totally disagree with you. I think you just gotta get your responsibilities straight. Im on right now and i got finals coming up in a week and then i graduate:D :D :D and man...am i kickin ass in school...turning everything in on time. kickin ass in tests...and finals wont be a problem either. but i must say i do have to take a day off sometimes when the school load gets too much (im takin 18 units). but then i make up for it during the weekend. you just can't have it all man. if you gonna work-out and go to school, then you can just forget about partying you cant have the best of all worlds.

"theres always something you gotta give up, to get everything thing you want"

Boo Hoo! I play D1 college football, have over a 3.0 overall GPA, and do cycles...if anyone has a hectic lifestyle its me. So next time you're feeling sorry for yourself, think of good ol' Man Child :)

Same deal here Man Child, I almost can't wait till I'm done after next season, I want just 1 week, where there is NOTHING (weights, practice, meetings about football, meetings not about football) to do as far as football, it has taken over my life!

Ta TownBacker

oh yeah, I have a 3.4 GPA, this semester was my worst ever, all the result of 1 class that effected the other classes' because it was so damm hard!

I always think I'm messing up, maybe I over-worry - but then I end up pulling at least a 3.0.... Hopefully this semester will be more of the same - I know it was last semester....

YUM

I've been f*cking up so much lately. I'm really worried about life in general. My mother being very ill (cancer), my grades(used to have a 3.0, now it's a 2.55), my girl, my future. And now I hurt my f**king shoulder and I can't ever work out. I'm getting smaller by the day. I made such an improvement on this cycle too :(

Twitched, at least you are honest. Most guys would have not posted something like that.

I would imagine the time you spent here on this board researching and asking questions was an education onto itself. It's never too late to go back and do school right, but going to back to fix a body might not have been.
The lessons we learn in life that are most valuable rarely come from school.

apparently its not a fair trade if hes flunking out bro.

I suppose I was referring more to myself.... I am generally a student who gets better grades.... Now they have slipped a little... maybe 10%... I consider it a good trade. How many book nerds do you see that are ripped? Not a whole lot. I didn't realize he was flunking out.

This statment is dead on.

I think Twitched has a very valid point to make, but it all comes down to the decisions you make.

Wow I completely disagree with that credo.

Never question authority? Yeah right. No wonder you read that off a church wall...
Obviously you are confused about the meaning of this statment. Reread it once or twice.

The point I was trying to make is that there is a lot of TIME that needs to be invested in this "hobby" to do it properly.

You can scream priorities all you want, and you are right to some extent, but you had better make sure you have the time to give up.

I don't know what kind of coursework you guys are taking, but I will tell you right now, try taking 21 credits as a mathematics graduate student while working on your thesis, working a part time job, AND running a good cycle, and not EVERYTHING is going to go your way. I know none of my peers in school that would even DREAM of going out to a party, let alone running a cycle of steroids.

Again, the point I am trying to make is you need to be ABLE to free up the time, and you had better make sure it's freeable before you start.

You can all continue to play the tough guys and sit here and say that NOTHING in your life has suffered due to this hobby, but I call bullshit on you.

And zyg was right on, I was more referring to this hobby as a whole, not the drugs. Diet, etc.

Zyg, always so wise:D It just so happens that I agree with
you AND Twitched. My work hasn't been up to par since I have
been hangin here so much lately. My other problem has been
snatch. It's like all I want is to get new snatch and LOT'S of it!
I am almost ALWAYS on the snatch search and KNOW when
I start getting in better shape, it's just gonna get worse!
Almost EVERY chick i talk to is like "How much bigger do you want
to get"?...and I'm like "MUCH"!

Oh, and government jobs.

I applied for a position as a codebreaker at the NSA, and was declined due to drug use. (Lie detector tests are given).

I can tell you from many years of experience and the many diversions in life (bb and aas included) that the key to it all is BALANCE. We get consumed by the diversions in life (many of which are never ending quests) whether they may be getting bigger, making more money, getting better grades, better jobs etc etc. I have found the most successful and happy people are those that have found a good balance between all of life's struggles and challenges.
One other thing I need to add is that it is much easier said than done.

This is really a good post, and that was well said there, musclhead. The problem is that most of us are somewhat obssesive-compulsive personalities. And it just gets worse after school. I have a wife, 5 kids in every sport imaginable, 3 businesses, community responsibilities, and still lift 5 days a week, observe good nutrition, and "supplementation".
I try to list my priorities before each day begins, and just check off the list as I go. Of course, family and business must come first. I have been in the gym at 2 AM.....determined not to miss the workout.
I can't emphasize how much better it is if you have a woman who understands and helps. I would be screwed if mine didn't prepare the food I need, cover me when I need to lift, and support me in my obsession. Just a hint to the younger guys.....find a career that allows the flexibility you need, and woman who is compatible to your lifestyle. I had neither for a number of years, and it was hell!

I own my own business, and when I started juicing I got very obsessed with it,all i ever wanted to do was get on the computer and get on these boards.I found between eating 7 meals a day, lifting, and getting on the computer for several hours I was not getting much work done ,wich meant lower profits.I was really cheating my wife and 2 kids by living that lifestyle,so I stood back and looked at the whole picture and decided to get my priorities straight.I am now back to putting in a full day's worth of work everyday, and still find time to workout 4 days a week and get all my meals in.I just had to find that balance.Oh yeah,I still juice too!:)

cycling helps me in school

i stay away from too much social activities, therefore more time for recovery and home work. i have a 3.9 cumilitive. I love it:D
