OK, I posted a while ago about starting a comeback cycle, and got some great feedback. For a variety of reasons, I decided to go ahead (yeah, who was it that predicted I wouldn't wait?) and run a light deca/winny cycle for 6 weeks. 400mg deca/wk; 25mg W EOD.
Reasons for deca: the anecdotal "healing" properties were a big factor. The 2nd factor was that I've responded well to deca in the past, so I thought that I might have some kind of "receptor happiness" thing happen where they were so glad to see deca that they sucked it all up. I think that might have worked.
Goals: to push through rehabbing of my back and left leg, which a climbing accident in May '05 thoroughly tweaked; to get back on a regular lifting routine; and to reverse the bodyfat gain I'd been experiencing.
My training journal for October was pretty typical of what I'd been going through: I couldn't complete anything resembling a full back or leg workout; I couldn't DL, Squat, or leg press due to the pain in my lower back. Even just doing pulldowns and dumbbell rows I'd have too much pain to finish a back workout.
Six weeks later: words fail to convey how great it is to be squatting again. I'm keeping the weights light (only using 200lbs), which I know is nothing, but I'm getting 20 reps for a couple sets. Pretty much ditto on the DL: keeping the weights light and going for reps.
I'm lifting either EOD or 2 days on/1 day off, depending on how buried I feel. Doing about 6-7 hours of light cardio a week (hiking). Stretching every night for 15 minutes. Workouts are going really well - intensity is coming back quickly.
Diet: I've shot for ~2,000 cals/day, 250g/protein, spread over 6 "clean" meals.
In that 6 weeks, I've dropped 2-3" from my waist, and I'm starting to look like I have legs again. At the same time, muscle size is increasing, strength is coming up nicely, and workout poundages are up. I haven't bothered to weigh in, I'm going by the mirror for now.
Sides: the deca made me horny
, so mrs. phatrr is happier too. [I'm officially weird, I know] No gyno, no water retention to speak of. I'm sleeping like a baby (7-8hr/night) for the first time in a couple years. Prior to the deca, even my best friends would charitably describe me as grumpy on my best days, and an asshole the rest of the time; with deca, I'm laid-back, happy, full of energy.
I'm starting PCT in a couple weeks, HCG + Nolva, following DrJMW's protocol.
Mid-January I go in for complete blood panels.
Now, for the questions: I've enjoyed being in less than a foul mood for the past 6 weeks. If anybody has any pointers on how to minimize the psychological "crash" I'm afraid is coming, please post 'em up.
Would adding IGF-1 as part of PCT help?
I'd like to stay "off" until spring, at which time I'm planning a t-bol/test-e/Winny cycle. Given my happiness with deca, should that remain part of my strategy?
Any other recs?
