The Change Is Imminent...

Silent Method

New member
I come from athletic background. "Bodybuilding" for the pure sake of size and form without regard for further aspects of athletic performance is relatively new to me. I have struggled with this concept.

Recently an endeavor has begun which shall once again give me the opportunity to compete in the sport of gladiators, the sport that I love. I cannot express the depth of my delight.

I vow this before all of you: I will cultivate my body to meet the fullness of my athletic potential. I will demonstrate that the full magnificence of the human form is best realized through the development of elite function.

Cool. The Ancient Greeks thought the same thing. Do it to it.

A lot of people are under the false assumption that bodybuilding is specifically about getting up on stage in trunks. . to see who has the best physique without any regard for training for strength or athletic performance.

I know several people on this board. . cough cough no names who think this way.

Why not design a program that builds a:

1. solid muscular base
2. a strong body
3. a fast body
4. a body with endurance
5. a flexible body
6. a coordinated body

A bodybuilding program can do this for you if you include the right type of training.

Most people around here think bodybuilding is about concentration curls and cable cross-overs. . . . this is 100 percent false.

Even if you include a number of events and etc. to reach your athletic goals. . you are still building your body, because you are essentially improving . . the areas I mentioned above.

A well rounded program will allow you to achieve your goals.

A well rounded program will allow you to achieve your goals.

Hell yeah. That's exactly what I'm doing right now. Sweet, I'm a bodybuilder.

louden, add dynamic power and specific sport skill into the mix and the principles of the program you describe are great. True bodybuilding is, in my opinion, that which seeks to develop elite function. Form will follow.

However, more than a handful of "bodybuilders" of today are of the mindset that function is secondary to form. I agree that this is not the true essence of bodybuilding, at least not what it should be.
