(let me start off by saying I'm retarded and always fuck up all the terminaology of our goverment, so if I'm using the wrong words - just reember I'm retarded)

I recall reading on here awhile back the name of the congressman that pushed through the legislature to make steroids illegal. this was back in the day, and I was thinking about why he would want to do this.
Obviously other countries where it is legal don't have people dropping dead on the streets due to misuse. So it makes me think that this man had a personal agenda and pushed this through due to that. the things that come to miind first off are that he wanted some attention/recognition and this would likely get media coverage and if they could swing it so it looks like he is saving our nations youth, then he looks great and will get reelected. fantastic.
the other thought that comes to mind is that the bill passed had some other shit in it that wasn't likely to get passed on its own, so they piggybacked it along with the anti-drug stuff. the media coverage would ensure that there would be public outcry if it was halted, so it went through, bringing whatever else was on the bill with it....
if that is the case - does anyone know of an online resource where we can read that? see what else was in/on there?

again, sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology.

S.3266
Public Law: 101-647 (11/29/90)
SPONSOR: Sen Biden (introduced 10/27/90)
A bill to control crime.

If you want to research the history of it go to http://thomas.loc.gov/ click on "public laws by number" and select the 101st Congress, you will be able to view the entire history of the underlying bills.

that's great man - thanks for the link!
I'll get to reading now.
thanks again!

Man, ya'll don't get it do ya? The simple reason roids are illegal is because of this countries infactuation with SPORTS and high school football. Since high school football is one of the most important thing in these numnuts smalltowners lives they can't have anyone cheating.

They think roids are giving one team advantage over another. So they went to this congressman and said some kids are taking steroids and it is not fair wah wah wah(whining noise) . And rather than making them illegal for anyone under 21 like they do every thing else. They totally outlawed them so it wouldn't distort the point spread on college and pro betting.

If this country would get a life outside of sitting their ass on a couch and watching someone carry a pigskin a 100 yds to 6 points every weekend they(gear)would probably still be legal.

hee hee. more likely is they want to be able to tax any monetary exchange that occurs and prevent anything that would allow under the table money exhanges and make that illegal so they can then go after that and either fine or imprison them.

what I don't get is why they'd imprison someone for steroid use. who exactly are the hurting that they need to be removed from the streets? if they fined you XX dollars, then the gov't gets that and it is an incentive for you not to do them and get caught, or else you get fined. but if they put you in prison, then they are spending money and get nothing from you.
better yet, make them pay a fine and do community service.

There's no reason that they can't regulate steroids like cigarettes or alchol. YOu could just have it dispensed by a pharmacist, rather than some neighborhood clerk.

I'm sure they could have mandatory education classes ( which I'm sure the the gov't could make a ton of money off of). They shouldn't assume people will abuse them, I think we deserve more credit then that.

Sure, testing may be expensive for all these athletes, but as it becomes common, it'll be way cheaper.

I seen on the history chanel about drugs and how they were outlawed. They said that back in the early 30's the government made pot ilegall by telling people that they would make kids go crazy and kill there parents. Thats how they got adults to go with it. The gov. even made commercials about stupid shit like this even though there were doctors that said that pot was not addictive or any more harmful than tabaco. The law back then stated that in order for you to own pot you had to get a gov. stamp that made it legall but in order to get the stamp you had to have the pot in hand when you applied so you had to break the law at the same time. Needles to say not one person ever applied for one. This is just one of the tactics they use. I'm sure the gov. used the same type tactics with steroids.I don't use pot or suggest the use of pot unless for medical reasons.
