but it was from shrugs ....i figured that out today when i was stretching an trying out a few things to see what the source of the injury might have been

holy dude i did the same thing to my upper back doing barbell shrugs very heavy ... I did it 7 weeks ago and it still hurts .... i see a chiro once a week has not helped its bullshit

yea its like under my shoulderblade in below the bone in the crease

i finally figured it out today when i was doing the shrug movement with not weight and i felt the strain on the muscle

i quit doing shrugs, everytime i would pull a muscle in my neck

What muscle? I continually have muscle cramps in my upper left back/shldr. For the last 2 weeks there has been a huge knot seemingly right beneath my scapula. I need to go get a massage to get it out. I try to stretch it, I twist and turn, I use random foreign objects to try and reach it, but nothing works.

i used to get those same knots in the same place (right side too) when i worked out (lol)

otherwise, they linger around forever causing discomfort and overall being annoying

I get this one every other month. The best thing I've found I can do is, not do shrugs, there are better exercises that will make you stronger anyway, and also to work on developing your lower lats and traps (the wifey-ish was right on that one). Also, make sure you're stretching your chest enough. If I sit down and really concentrate on lengthening my muscles when I'm stretching my hamstrings, I can feel my lats, traps, and rhomboids getting a good stretch. Like 5 deep breaths per stretch, take a break, and do it over again maybe 3 times. All this shit's really worked, and you get a noice high feeling after you're done.

I did just start implementing shrugs again. And I don't know why. I don't enjoy doing them. I make stupid faces during them. I've never seen any real return on them either. WTF.

If you have kettle bells at your gym, do statches. You can use DB's too, but I like the momentum that has to be controlled with the kettle bells.

And yeah brahhhhh. I totally change into some he-capris and a sheer fitting yoga shirt and slather myself with petchoulie (fucking sp?) before I bring my yoga matt just a little too close to the squat rack and do my ass in the air stretches and splits with my back facing said rack squatters.
