There was no horror. It was like a bad episode of Scobby Doo.
The horrific victim scene was nothing like the first.
The dialog was just bad and sometimes comical (tried to be).
If it wasn't for Jessica Biel in a tank top, the movie woulda never landed in the green.

the movie was MUCH better than the original in terms of acting, suspense, editing and photography....

I've used a chainsaw to kill hobos but it's not about me. That's for sure.

well i dont remember it really
i remember a TCM2 and wasnt there a scene where he attacks a radio station or something?

Yup it was stretch's radio station..good memory...

The original one was great

the remake despite some minor improvements (due to a higher budget) in photographies, etc was really pathetic

I have seen the remake and it scared the hell out of me when i saw that creepy old dude in a wheelchair in a house in the middle of nowhere.
It gave mr heart palpitations and had to watch the rest of it on fastforward :(.

how much of this was a true story? where there some cops that actually died from this guy? were there really nail marks along the wall?

holy crap, i like her in those pics.
i guess some women do look better when they have a little more weight on them :) (more weight then she has had recently)

I thought the worst part or the part that bothered me so much was when she blew her brains out... So disturbing...
Did you guys see what jessica biel did to her lips?

I thought most of it was based on a true story, only reason why it was freaky too me, made me want to puke, then i found out none of it is true at all, and it's still pretty creapy lol.

i thought it was awesome. made me want to puke though, the dark colors and photography ect were really well done, main reason why i liked it so much....

I haven't seen the remake, the original was spooky. Scariest moment though was when the freezer was opened and instantly the bound/gagged girl pop ups trying to scream...

well, there is going to be a prequel, called Hatchet..............this along with many other movies were based on Ed Gein.

a lot of people think it's based on a true story, or at least based on a real life killers. that's the kind of thing that goes around. i thought something like that, too, but i'm pretty sure it's not based on anything in reality. at least not specifically or directly.

as for these films, i would be inclined to agree with pimpmasterdropout. of course, i haven't seen the remake, but the original is considred nothing less than a classic. and these new movies (anything starring jessica biel...fucking hello??) are usually standard crap. horror movies especially.

maybe it has something good to it, but probably not. no doubt, the production values and 'acting' are sharper in this new one, but that doesn't work to its advantage. i remember watching the opening 15-20 minutes of the original film. you know that grainy quality that some films from the 70s had? there's something raw about it. and the beginning of this movie had some scenes which were just menacing...even though nothing overt was happening...the whole vibe was creepy and bizarre. all of this comes together, partially because of the unrefined look of the film. you won't find anything like it in today's polished hollywood turds. i don't necessarily go for that grainy, crude look and feel, but it works for a film like this, because the overall affect is more unsettling.

as for the acting in the original, i think it was appropriate for some awkward and innocent teenagers. does anyone remember that raving lunatic of a hitchhiker they picked up? i don't think you'll find a character freaky in quite the same way if you watch the remake. once again, the lack of smooth performances is more conducive to the reality of what's happening.

one of the things they did to make it more eerie was to have no soundtrack, jus' those bizarre sounds...............Ed Gein had been the guy who was using bodyparts for furniture and shit. he was a serial killer and a grave robber.

it's based on a true story.. ed gein's story in wisconsin or something...he skinned a victim or two... and they decide to make it a "true story" about a group of teens in texas... uh... i was pissed about that (relieved for the "victims" though)..

anyway.. it's based on the same guy "Psycho" is based on... and any other "true" horror movie...

based on means - take any aspect of it and use it in a movie and it's true...

the remake was awesome, best horror movie in YEARS.

I couldn't get past the HOT ASS in TIGHT JEANS. OMFG. I was in heaven. Imagine that ass on the BIG SCREEN staring at you! Woo Hoo!!! :)

Did you know that John Larroquette of the TV series Nightcourt and the John Laroquette show was the narrator for the first one.
