Testosterone for "Seniors"

PSword

New member
Hi Chaps, a general question for the more senior members of this forum. But first a little background about me. I am 55yo, been lifting since Adam was a boy, have a good working knowledge of cycles. I have competed in BB competitions at the lower levels in the Masters categories. I am 5'9', between 105-110kg, and good BF levels. I have reached an age and stage in my life where I am no longer interested in gaining more mass, however I would like to maintain what I have, and concentrate more on staying lean.

I am therefore thinking I have done my last "cycle". I have read varying reports on testosterone as we age, and the effects on the body. While I will not cycle any longer, I am considering a low dose test E every 2 weeks on a semi permanent basis, with the idea of maintaining a good level of T, yet not taking it out of "normal" range. This is purely done for general health as my natural T declines in my golden years, and to assist in maintaining the mass I have, while i concentrate on keeping BF levels low. Some gym buddies suggested the use of TRT patches as a way of maintaining healthy levels of T and keeping the delivery at a constant level rather than the spikes associated with injectables.

So the question is, have any of you had experience with this situation? How have you handled it?

Any advice or suggestions very welcome. I may be old, but I am always open to learning new things.

Cheers

I would suggest you go to an HRT clinic and get some TRT prescribed for yourself. That's your best option. Generally, they give 200mgs of test cyp weekly, give or take.

welcome to the site my friend , sounds like you are still in great shape and holding some good mass.

we have some highly respected members that you should talk to.... RADAR and Nelson Montana .

I second what's already been said.

Your best bet is getting your hormone levels checked at a HRT clinic, or by your GP. At least that way you'll know where you stand. HRT isn't really semi-permanent in the vast majority of cases, and is a lifelong commitment to regular supplementation.

All the best.

Thanks for all your responses chaps. I will be getting bloods done in a month or so. I finished my last cycle 2 months ago, and PCT one month ago. Just allowing the bloods to settle before checking to see where I am at.

I take all your points into consideration. I am loathed to visit a doc as it has been my experience the average GP know F all about AAS and their true effects. I have gained my knowledge from reading, talking to experienced Bro's and trial and error. Where I live, no prescription required for TRT therapies and I have access to the highest quality gear, so availability is not the issue. I am just trying to determine the best course for maintenance for the long term, as my ageing body gradually loses its natty levels.

If there are other seniors on this board that have already beaten this path before, I would be grateful to hear from you.

Thanks again all.

I am on HRT from a HRT clinic and I am prescribed 200mgs of Test Cypionate per week. The Dr. will prescribed all your needles, Test Vials and then every 6 to 8 weeks will do blood work to be sure your T levels are within normal range for your age. Your family Dr. can do this as well however they typically do not monitor you reference blood work as a true HRT Dr. will. Best of luck to you

Hi Arabian, thanks very much for that information, very useful. Out of curiosity, with your dose of 200mgs of T Cyp per week, is there a need to cycle off this and perform a PCT? Or is it considered low enough dose to use on a permanent basis given low natty Test?
