Tendonitis.....f#ck!!

I was doing dumbell wrist curls and my wrist just started to really hurt. I went to the hospital a few days later because the pain would not go away and it was put in a plaster for a week. When the plaster came off it was still no better so I returned to the hospital and I was diagnosed with wrist tendonitis. I have now got to keep a splint on my wrist for 2 weeks.

Anyone else had tendonitis before? Its doing my head in because I dont think it will heal even after this further 2 weeks.

Give me some hope guys....PLEASE!

Motrin, ice and wrist wraps will help. I'd definately rest it bot I agree that 2 weeks isn't going to completely heal it. I wear wrist wraps a lot now just to protect them. They really help.

Unless your lifting for a competitive max, I think wearing wrist wraps is generally a bad idea. You don't want to become dependent on supportive devices to protect you, because when the time comes in the real world where you need your strength, you're fucked. It's like wearing a bench shirt to workout; you only end up cheating yourself, and your wrists wont get stronger if you rely on supportive devices. My advice is to take it easy on that wrist and allow it to heal, then gradually pick up the weights but don't be over zealous and aggravate the injury further.

I agree but I need my wrists every day for work and I'm extreme pain when I lift so I have no choice. I also can't think of a real world situation where I would be fucked because I wear wraps.

What I meant in being "fucked" is that if your body is accustomed to using supportive devices, it's going to be much weaker in the absence of the supportive device- you are more prone to injury.

hate to say it.....but you will have it for the rest of your life.......sometimes it will bother you more than others though
mine gets so bad sometimes that i cant even mone my wrist.....it really fucking sucks.....dbol and deca seem to help a little bit

Bro, i have had tendonitis in my wrist for 8 months now. After two cortizone shots it still didn't help. But my doctor gave me CELEBREX 200mg. That shit works wonders. it takes my pain right away and helps the inflaming. I suggest you ask him about it. Also I recommend that you wrap your wrists tight with some sports tape. It works for me.

I disagree. Tendonitis is cause by weak tendons for the most part, they were stretched and now do not ride right and are easily irritated. The most common approach is anti-inflamatories and ice, both of which reduce inflamation, but inflamation is the bodies means of increasing blood flow and nutrients to an area so in essence you are preventing your bodies own healing.

6 months ago, I could not dumbell curl 20lbs with my left arm without dropping the bell due to tendonitis. I have had 4 prolotherapy treatments now and I would say elbow is at 95% and I have not used any anti-inflamatories or ice during that time either.

There is a lot of prolotherapy info on the web do a google search.

I had tendonitis in my elbow back last year and it took about 4 months and now it is completely healed.

I was just hoping that wrist tendonitis healed quicker, just wishfull thinking I think.

So your saying that it could take 6 months to heal?

I had just planned a cycle for the summer aswell.
