Should I keep my legs straight. or bent? SHould my lower back be sore the next day? I tried to do some last night and my lower back is sore today already.
if you keep your legs straight during the whole movement then your doing "str8 leg deadlifts" which works the back of the hams and some of your back. I bend my knees when I do regular deadlifts. One powerful, continious motion....lift it up...staighten legs, roll back the shoulders and lock it out.
bend the legs unless you are doing them for your hammies.. even then a slight bend is good.
think of it as a squat with your hands at the floor holding something... staggered grip is my fav. but some here use an overhand grip... lower back will be hurt a bit for a while and when you go heavy, no biggy as long as its muscle ache and not back ache...
aight, let me jump in heya w/a diff ? if thats aight....
anyone know of any secrets to make your lats "longer"? the top of lats and there, and have good size to them, but they dont taper down the sides like I want.
dude, dont say that , there had GOT to be a way.... Ive tried everything Ive ever heard, read, etc. bent over rows w/dumb bells, pull them in high, works high lat, pull them in low, works lower lats........
gilby i hate to agree with mp5 and rain on your parade but that's genetic. it's like people who have a big gap in their chest...no exercise is going to fill in the gap, it's just how you are. it makes you unique, so you should feel special that your lats are that way. lol
Gilby...the best exercise I know for the lower lats is curl grip rows. Do them just like bent over rows but use an underhanded grip, and don't pull the bar in a straight line...pull it back towards your belt line.
My back hurts like fuck no matter what I do. I used to do bent-over deadlifts, like, a dozen years ago, but haven't done 'em since, and my back aches.
I always thought that i was keeping my back straight and only moving my arms. I then did dumbell bent-over rows, but I didn't feel shit from those...
No problem man...any time. Let me know how they work.
And Weapon X...if you are using proper form then bent over rows are as safe as any exercise. If they mess up you back then probably your lower back or your abs are weak...maybe both. And for the record you can have a 6pack set of abs and they can still be weak.
Bent over rows is the one of the best exercises for back. I love doing them with an olympic ez-curl bar. It seems to balance better for me then a reg bb.
