Tattoos

How many tattoos do you have and where are they? Also, what is your tattoo and how did you choose it?

I want to get a tattoo but can't decide what to get. I think I want it either on my pelvis area or on my lower back.

uh.. you a dude or a chick??

whatever you get.. make sure that it's something that means something to you...

i have a fucking jabberjaws shark on my right delt that i got while i was drunk.. i was 18 y/o.. had just joined the military.. drunk.. and thought that i needed a tattoo.. so i went and picked one off the wall.. DO NOT DO THIS!!!

i'm still saving up for the cover up that i'll be getting to hide my little fishy..

and i also got a tribal barbed wire tat on my right ankle.. which i'm cool with.. as i about cut off my leg in a barbed wire/four wheeler accident..

so like i said.. get somethng that means something to you..

i have a celtic cross on my upper right arm/lower delt,it hasd the holy trinity's in it and im catholic and irish so it all worked out

i just wish i had went to a better parlor instead of going to one who could do it faster and cheaper

Listen to DECEM - he is absototalfrigginlutely right! He's lucky though. I was drunk many monns ago - decided I needed a tatoo on my massive 12 inch arm, went to a parlor - saw a bondage chick with whips and chains and a grim reaper playing the guitar - since I love girls and I play the guitar, I had him make the girl playing the guitar. Goes from my delt down to the elbow. Has faded over the years, she still has a very 80's hairstyle, and my arm is 17 1/2 inches now and she has some "stretch marks"! Yikes.

Do what he said and get something that means something to you. I designed a small tribal for my upper back that I love, and am working on one for my right delt. But that damned chick on my arm.....

Good Luck!

I have one on my lower back - 6 hours of work in a 4" circle, 3 sittings. I designed it and it is very detailed.

I also have a stone tribal heart on the top of my right foot.
Both have great significance to me and I don't regret either one of them. Two is my limit.

I have 1, and like decem I was 18 when I got it. I don't regret getting it, as it was a time in my life where a lot of event's were going down.

So... being short (5'7) and being a big bad motherfucker at the same time... I went with a bulldog on my shoulder. The next day 3 of my best friend's went and got the same tattoo. I didn't know they were going to do it, and was pissed at first... but now since I'm older... it's a good way to remember my bro's. 2 of whom are still my best friends today.

The only reason I regret it is because I didn't realize a bulldog was a marine thing.

decem - Did you ever decide on the buddhist tattoo you were looking at... or did you decide against it?

i still want one too, i want to wait until i can design something or find something that has a deep meaning to me tho. Can anyone tell me how much they cost??? I would just want a small one...no-color.

Anywhere from $50-70 would be my thoughts Pixie.

As someone who has 2 on my lower back/upper backside and one on my pelvic region-- I'll tell you that getting on your back will hurt less. You'll also be able to show your tattoos to others with much more ease if they're on your back.

I'm a woman.

That's a relief!!!

Aside from someone like May1010, I couldn't imagine a guy getting a tatoo in the places you mentioned!!!

All together now... can we say QUEER!!!

:D :D

no.. i'm still at war with myself over it.. for the following reasons:

1. i.. like you.. see my shark as being one of life's events that should be remembered.. but then it's so damn gay... so i'm still fighting with myself over covering it..

2. i wouldn't mind getting a tattoo related to buddhism.. as that's what i'm practicing and working towards.. one of my top goals in this life is to get as close to enlightenment as i can.. so in reality.. it would be the best tattoo to get.. as it has so much meaning and value behind it.. and it'd truly represent my ideas/thoughts/beliefs..

3. as a practicing buddhist... as one that's striving to get better.. i realize that identifying one's self with anything at all.. be it a first name, a nationality, a tattoo, or a religion for that matter.. is working against my goal.. as it's providing more clutter that obstructs the view of the true self..

4. i don't know enough about buddhism yet to know what exactly i would get.. i've thought about getting the buddhist mantra "om-mani-padme-hum" written in hebrew (or whatever the heck that writing is called).. but then i'm pretty sure that's more of a tibetan buddhist mantra.. and since i just did some reading on mahayana buddhism.. i'd like to read a little deeper into it first.. and see if they too have similar fondness of this mantra.. not that i want to identify myself with one sect or the other.. as i love the meaning behind the mantra.. i'd just like to see another's point of view on it before making my decision..

Good post decem... sounds like you've really though about it!!!

And, with your shark and my dog being gay... I can't say I blame you!!! :D

Although it may 'work against your goals', it's something that you'd see every day you wake up... and every day that tatoo could be a reminder of the love and compassion the mantra promotes, and that you have in your heart. It could serve as a reminder to show it to everyone and everything you encounter during the day, every day for the rest of your life.

I've started to ponder the thought since you mentioned it myself.
With a true understanding of Buddhism and the mantra... I don't see how I could ever live to regret it.

Let me know if you ever get it decem!!!

Thanks for the input. I think I will try to design one myself, that has some meaning, to me.

Someone at a club once told me to get a Devil and an Angel fighting - because I look like a "girl next door" on the outside, but on the inside I am a "nasty girl"! Pretty lame idea for a tattoo, huh?!

lmao.. hebrew.. bah..

sanskrit.. that's it..

I have nothing against tattoos, but it seems like EVERYONE has a tattoo or a piercing. Thats why I dont have one. Personally tattoos on girls dont turn me off, but they do make me think of the chick as a little bit easy.....So actually I guess they turn me on!:D
