tattoos: thinking of this

New member
was thinking of adding some Kanji writing on myself. I have a big tat across the top of my back from shoulder to shoulder and I was thinking of putting

5 of the single symbol Codes of Bushido running down my spine below my other tat on my back.
http://japanese.about.com/bl50kanji_bushidocodes.htm

Than I was thinking of putting the two double symbol codes on the insides of my biceps. One on each arm.

I imagine the inside of the bicep would be painful but I'll be able to gut it out if thats the case.

Not to sure if this is what i'll add to myself but it's an idea.

My girlfriends cousin works in a parlor and does good work so he'll hook me up so it wont cost to much.

Any thoughts on anything?

IMO, unless your Asian, it is sort of dumb looking.

I hear you on the thing of people getting their name in that type of writing or something.

But the Codes of bushido have a meaning in them and were made as a code of Samurai

And I'm into designs and looks rather than pictures of a particular thing so I find the Kenji writing of these codes interesting.

get a tatoo of god Anubis

I really wanna do it but I cant find a good picture of him

plus i dont know where I would put it

OK, I see what you mean. They have a meaning behind them, so I guess thats different then. You may proceed.

it seems everyone has one of these type of tats. they rank among the most played out tats, such as barbwire around arms, tribal tats, and a cupid's heart that says 'mom' in the middle.

if you're going to get a tat, get something unique and something atleast 99% original.

Like I said...I'm into designs so thats probbly why I like the tribals and those types of things.

I'm not into tattoos that some people get such as a dog or tiger tattoo. Not into people who just get a cross on their arm or something...If I did that I would have to have a design around it.

Are you good at drawing? Or do you have a friend who can draw? If so, you should create your own cool design, you'll probably feel a lot better after getting the tat, knowing that no one else in the world has the same one :D

Yeah I can draw and the artist that will do it would be able to draw me up something also, he's suppose to be really good at what he does.

I'm kind of pushing for the Kenji tats, but it wont be for weeks or months before I get it done so who knows.

BBB- you're just againt tattooing no? I think I remember you saying you thought it was dumb awhile ago? Could be wrong.

What types of tattoo art are you into and what would you get? If I was wrong and you arnt against it. Just curious

yea, especially if you got the AC/DC t-shirt to match.

LOL...O god! I guess you got a point. Went back for further inspection and I can see it being looked at that way.

lol.. :garza: ....but seriously, i got a tribal tatoo when i was 16 and everyone was getting them, i regret it now, it means nothing and im sick of it, i think there's a simple way to choose a tatoo, get something that means something special to you and you;ll never regret it.

unless your planning on growing your hair out, carrying a sword around, and prepared to kill yourself if you fail at something, then no go.

The 2 double symbol things in the bicep is cool, im sure it would hurt like insanely bad, and if you like it who cares if its so called trendy or not, just go with what you like

I like it, I have 2 Cantonese symbols that spell my nickname on my delt. It looks great and I love it.

On the right shoulder it translates into: Cos
On the left, it says: mo

Ya know, you would think I would know better by now LOL

Its a love hat thing, I love to hat you guys ;)

What's with you Canadians always forgetting the E in HATE?

a, E...a, E, i, o, u and sometimes Y..

Sing it with me....

I'm not a big tattoo guy. I like the barbed wire on the bicep or an ankle tattoo on a girl. Otherwise very small ones on the shoulder blade or hip area.

I think it's a cool idea if it means something to you.

Don't get the tat and then dishonor what it stands for.

no offense, but chinese/jap symbols are right up there with celtic armbands in the "only cool if you're a 15 yearold wannabe badass" category. Someone above mentioned designing your own tat or getting a friend to help you... this is what you should do. Nothing screams poser like a cookie cutter tattoo... and you'll thank yourself later when girls ask about it, and you can say how you designed it, instead of giving them the weblink where you stole it from :)

sorry gotta disagree with ya there, symbols are ok if they mean something.

Mine are my nickname and I am far from a 15 year old wannabe badass, more like a 35 year old, whether I am a badass or not isn't really important.

Me a poser, LOL dont think so. Maybe you should learn not to paint everyone with the same brush. If what he gets had meaning to him, who really gives a shit what other think. I got my Tats for me, no one else.

incase of any misconceptions, i wasnt directing my post at anyone in specific... obviously i have no idea who you are, so to call you a poser would be a little audacious of me. At least yours are of your nickname, knowing/understanding what they mean is a big step up from a lot of ppl i know.
it all comes down to personal preference... i just have a lot more respect for ppl who design or at least think of the original idea for their tats than use someone else's, but personal meaning is also key. but fuck, if you like them and are happy with them, thats all that matters. you're quite right, no one should care what others think, and im glad to hear you dont.
