tattoo and Kanji (sp??)

I know some dudes that are really huge get these japanese character tattoos on their arms and necks and stuff...

well, I was thinking in the gym today that I want one.

my initial thought was that I needed some japanese characters - but the only one I could think of is Hello Kitty. I don't think that would go as well on my forehead as maybe some of that fancy writing would.

So does anyone know the symbols for different words or anything? I know that lots of dudes get "strength", or at least they think that is what they got.
anyone know the word for "wuss" or "scares easily" or "weak" or "flaccid"??

or maybe I will just give a 2 year old a brush and some ink and let them go at it and then tell the tattoo guy to fill it all in.

whatever it is, I want it to be classy - so I'm either gonna get it on my entire back, or on my forehead (I can't afford both).

anyone?

My opinion, those things are so trendy and lame.

Does anyone who gets those things know ANYTHIGN at all about japanese culture except Sailor Moon and Pokemon? HIGHLY doubtful. That's what gets me. It's as bad as white kids not living in a ghetto but dressing up like they do and getting the fake accents. It just looks "cool", but in the same sense when you think about it, it's also pretty silly.

Do you see Japanese people walking around with American symbols on their body? For instance stopsigns, Burger King, Pennzoil...

well - actually - when my best friend was in Japan - there were kids walking around in skin tight t-shirts that said stuff like "shitty milk dog!" and random weird things that made no sense

they just liked the way those words looked.

maybe I will just get the full back hello kitty tat after all...

Oh my god I can't believe they're doing that now. Those damn trendy Japanese..I luv em' and all, but gawd...

Hello Kitty Hello Kitty Hello Kitty Hello Kitty Hello Kitty!!! That would be en vogue and unique, and make you stand out above the rest of the boys. Oh yes HS! That would thuper!!!!

(yes, you will stand out alright, i don't know about standing up after you get the tat tho... lol.. )

Actually, I was thinking about the exact same thing.

I speak a little Japanese and I swear to God, I saw one girl the other day with "beef value" tattooed on one of her calves. lol I think it's stupid to get inked just because it looks cool, and of course I'm right. :)

Anyway, there are some great sites out there that list all kinds of Japanese/Mandarin/Etc words (do a search on yahoo). I'm leaning towards the Chinese/Sanskrit symbols for "balance" & "karma" at the moment...

I have personal reasons as to why I'm getting my tatoos. I suggest you find some as well...although having "weak and flacid" written on your forhead is a great way to scare off girls. :D

Do you mean the japanese symbol for beef value?

Yes. Or at least "beef value" was the closet interpretation I could come up with. :) Words don't always translate well from one language to another.

That was going to be my next point. I've had a Kanji on my neck way before it was fashionable and when I began my search I found that the symbol had several meanings. Anyway I was in Disneyworld, and in the Japan section of Epcot, a Japanese man walks up to me and starts to chuckle," Do you know what that means on your neck?" I said I did and when I reminded him of the other meaning his grin disappeared and he excused himself.

"Large Gay Abusive Male"

I have that tattoo too.

As for all the Hello Kitty shit - I recall reading a Wired article saying that it was all the rage over there - you could ride the subway and sit between a businessman in a suit reading the Anime porn (cant show pubic hair, but you can show a young girl getting raped by a large robot penis), and another talking away on his cell phone and typing on a laptop - both proudly emblazened with a Hello Kitty symbol.
that was when I knew that in order to be truly cool I was gonna need on of them Hello Kitty symbols on my forehead.
either that or "boy boy gorgeous monkey"
