Tanning as bad as it's made out to be?

I was wondering if tanning is as bad for you as alot of people want you to think. You hear people saying even going to a tanning salon once greatly increases your chances of skin cancer and whatnot.

Is tanning using the sun "healthier" for you than tanning beds?

I think it all depends on your skin type. Some people can go to a tanning bed every other day and be fine while it may hurt others the first time. I have only gone a few times in the past but I do like the real sun much better. It is a different type of tan. If you can get the real sun then do that rather than the beds. I wouldn't say one is safer than the other though.

a lot. you see, the high cheese and saturated fat content in pizza slow down the metabolism of your skin cells while at the same time increasing melanin production, so you get a deeper, browner tan.

i like to eat a large anchovie pizza about an hour before hitting the tanning bed.

I read an article in the local paper about this 17 year old girl that developed melanoma from tanning beds. She had only been using them for 3 years accroding to the article. This made me scared to death thinking about how many sunburns I've had. Then towards the end of the article they said that she had the tanning bed at home and she used it for 2-3 hours per day for several years!!! For god's sake if you're that stupid you deserve cancer!!!

I personally like a tan from the sun much better, I think it gives you a much darker brown vs. a bright red. I also think a tan from the sun lasts longer but I dont know if that is scientifcly correct.
