Taking zoloft,but.........

I'm taking zoloft 50mgs/day right now,due to some anxiety issues with co-inciding insomnia,Which gets worse when starting my aas cycle consisting of Test prop 100mgs. eod. Eq 400mgs/week and Winny 50mgs/day.My problem is the sertraline makes me too complacent and unmotivated to train hard, also I feel a lot weeker on most of my lifts,as well as gassing out pre-maturely,not being able to complete the desired amount of reps. This is probably due to the down regulation of various dopaminergic receptors caused by the various ssri agents. This causes diminished neuro-muscular firing which impedes strong muscular contractions. I was considering adding one or several nootropics, which have been shown to increase dopamine:Hydergine, piracetam and deprenyl. There was a good post by The Sleeper in feb/2002,under"anyone here use nootropics" at anabolex where he recomends a stack with paxil and deprynel@5mg/day, he also throws in pramiracetam@1200mg/day and hydergine@9mg/day.He claims an increase in energy and well being, and the ability to train more agrresively.
I can also try adding cytomel@25mg/day. Eca and clen are too stimulating for me. I have read that a dual serotonin norepenephrine re-uptake inhibitor like effexor has less of these problamatic sides. If anyone has experience with ssri's and aas, can you tell me what methods you use to mitgate these symptoms allowing you to train consistently and intensely. Thank You.

Bro - from personal experience, the Effexor f*cked me up for approx 2 months and made me worse than before I started. The norepenhrine reuptake inhibitors in it caused me to have adrenalin rushes for no reason at all - And worst were the nightmares it gave me. Zoloft does the same thing as it does for you (causes lethargy, not motivated, etc.)

Not recommending this, but this what I do, now that Im back on Zoloft (100mgs a day):
approx an hour prior to training, take 50mg of ephedrine chasing it down with a Redbull energy drink. I simply call it "Augmentation" since Im adding a little dopamine with all the seratonin my brain is swimming in. I would only try this may be 3 times a week at most to prevent from being immune or dependant on ephedrine.
Good luck

i take a half bar of xanax post w/o and half bar afternoon to combat anxiety. works for me. does not interfere with w/o's at all, even though its addictive and blah blah blah and all that bullshit. anti-depressants suck, so i'd rather take an "addictive" med like a benzo (klonipin/xanax/valium/ativan) than that shit. still not addicted to it and can go without it BTW. but it sure helps with anxiety and i like it better while on it if that is addiction.

I cut my Paxil dose in half, kept Wellbutrin the same. On days when I feel lethargic anyway, I just force myself into the gym. Once I get in there I can usually get going.

I'm also considering trying Thermorexin... but have not yet.

When I told my doc that all I wanted to do was sleep all day we talked about SSRI's. He stated that while they're all similar that Prozac was more on the "energy" side then the others. It's worked for me so I think he may be on to something.

yeah, paxil was enough to sour me on SSRI's. but i guess things like prozac and wellbutrin are worth a fair shot. i like the "instant gratification" of the benzo's though. prozac and paxil and what not, need so long to build up...like 2 weeks or more. i ALMOST got on wellbutrin last week, but i don't have the cash for it and am inbetween medical coverage, so not able to get cheap scripts. :( although the xanax costs me about 80-90 bucks a month at one 2mg bar a day.

i got on Lexapro, a relatively new SSRI, 7 or 8 months ago. it's supposed to have fewer sides than the others. a couple of months into it i started having sexual issues (trouble keeping it up, not getting it up). so the doctor prescribes me Viagra. i'm thinking cool. but, my energy level is low and i'm taking naps every day (unusual for me). fast forward to one month ago, my sex drive is totally gone, can't get or keep it up with or without Viagra. i storm the doc's office telling him to take me off this shit, nothing is worth these side effects. he put me on Wellbutrin. i feel great, lots of energy in the gym, no naps and i'm laying some serious pipe in addition to some outstanding JO sessions. i really think my sex drive is higher than it was before i started the Lexapro. some recent studies seem to back this opinion up.

Wellbutrin is a miracle drug, man. try it for sure.

Bishop4, I didn't want to get into my entire pharmaceutical regimen in my original post, but since you mentioned the Xanax(alprazolam),I've been on them since [email protected]/day, then attenuation and tolerance ensued and am now taking 3.5mgs/day mostly during the evening. This causes a marked reduction in workout intensity as the half life is approx. 8 hrs, so by the time I hit the gym i still have an affecting dose in my system. This was the purpose to use zoloft so I can taper out the benzo's as I believe they are worse, also very addicting and affect cognitive abilities far greater than the ssri's.I was hoping to use the nootropics to stabalize my dopamine levels without creating any extra stimulation. Someone with nootropic ssri combo experience, please chime in.
SSri's can also increase prolactin levels, albeit not as much as the trycyclics. I thought that dostinex could be beneficial for this.

im taking half a pill which is 50mg's of zoloft.... no problems so far...i've been tired but thats from the d-bol...and sleeping late of course :)... but since i started the cycle i've been calmer and feeling good... i tried coming off of it ...while on the cycle but i noticed since i've been talking to this girl i get depressed really easy... but i just started back on again ... and everything is cool

yeah, i noted they are addicting and i knew this. not something in want to stay on for all that long. will be trying other alternatives like i had mentioned. but for now it works. xanax also does make you "dumb", or decrease cognitive function, as you stated. i've had dozens of people tell me that. i notice myself making stupid mistakes, and not thinking straight at times on it. klonipin does not do that to me though. xanax is easier to get though for me right now. i take my last doese at about 3 in the afternoon the day before the morning workout.....so not much there when i hit the weights almost 20 hours later. i have been taking ambien though, for sleeplesness from that damn fina i had been on last cycle that just ended. and i need to taper off that stuff. i don't think it affects me the next morning....i think it is all out of the system by 10 hours or so.....but i am worried about becoming dependant on it to sleep. its so nice to use though, since you fall right off to sleep. its easy to abuse. :)

paxil and wellbutrin

Currently I take 37.5 mg of paxil sustained release and 200 mg Wellbutrin. I had the same problem with lethargy, sleepiness, and the sexual side effects sucked. But, since I started taking wellbutrin everything's been better, I feel really normal and happy and energetic. I think wellbutrin works on dopamine while paxil is an ssri. I'll agree with wellbutrin improving sex and even sex drive. The sensation is better and it improved my libido quite strongly. I'd suggest this combination if someone has problems. I've tried, prozac, effexor, celexa before and they didn't work for me. But, each drug has a different potency for each person, just depends on the individual body.
