Taking some rest

I've worked out for a few month on a regular basis (#5 days a week)

I need some rest

What do you think is best :

3-5 days off
6-8 days off
9+ days off
4-5 days off and another 5-10 days with "just" 1 WO every third day
????

and most interestingly, why ?

what does you training split look like?

I was doing
day1 : back
day 2 : chest
day 3 : legs
day 4 : shoulders
[day 5 if any : tris + bis]

I also tried :
day 1 : chest + back + maintenance for shoulders/tris/bis
day 2 : legs + maintenance for chest + back
day 3 : shoulders + back + maintenance for chest/tris/bis
day 2 : legs + maintenance for shoulders + back
 
i would just take the rest of the week off, and go back at it friday. why...dunno. its just what i do when i feel i get burned out. but i generally find that 4 days rest without being in the gym allows me a "fresh start."
 
I'd probably take 5-7 days off. That's just what I would do. With the whey protein drinks, L-glutamine powder, creatine and multi-vitamin/minerals supps I take I usually feel fine training hard 4 days a week as long as I get sufficient sleep every night and sleep extra on the weekends. I'd say take a week to soften up a little as they say, then get back into it and you'll feel strong and refreshed. I think a week off from training every 4-6 months is a smart thing and it certainly won't hurt your progress.

Unless I'm hurt or completely burnt, I NEVER take more than a weekend off....no point in my eyes......If I go on vacation, I still will find a gym to hit every other day or something......if everything is in order, diet, sleep, routine, there is no need.............
