taking picture w/ a digital

I try taking pictures of myself in the mirror with a digital camera and they come out very shitty. Does anyone have a technique they use that makes it come out better? more/less lighting or something?

A dig cam or a webcam?? Sometimes my webcam is REALLY grainy. I just mess around with the lights in my room and sometimes there are different settings you can click around in on your pc. I was just playing with my camera....

and does it have a timer? maybe try perching it up on something instead of from a mirror

I wish I had a damn timer. lol You should see the hell I go through to get a picture of my stomach. I usually have to have my camera up on a stack of cups and I hit the button with a spatula. I think that vix posted tips on taking nice dig pics once.....

raina, I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking of pressing the button with a long stick or something.

I hope you don't mind me interjecting ...It may just be the amount of pixels or general quality of your camera. I'm not an expert, but I've been selling on eBay for over 4 years and I think you need a digital camera with at least a 2 or 3 megapixels to get really good pics. Take a look at www.dpreview.com for tips and whatever. I think the flash/reflection also can blurr your pics so you might just want to use that timer if you have one or just get someone to snap pics of you....Like I said, I'm not an expert, but I hope any of this helps. lol

My Olympus has a little remote control fob thingy...

That way I could get a shot standing in front of the camera.

Controls the zoom and everything.... badabing !
