3V - why don't you get a student visa and pick up some classes? Or check out some training certs or something? If you do anything web design or something like that, you can do the work for cash under the table or something.

Hey I worked as a scuba dive master for tips (no pay) for the summer 3 years ago when I got laid off. Also taught myself web design and got 5 clients.
