so. In america, if you hit someone because you are sleep deprived you will get the same sentence. There was a report on it on 60 minutes a few months ago. Someone got 8 days in jail for accidentally killing someone because he fell asleep at the wheel.

People pick on drunk drivers. There are about 30 things you can do to make your driving ability shitty, getting drunk is the only one that is recognized by the law however.

In the states you can get away with murder if you fall asleep at the wheel too. I know, I lost two close pals to a 18 year who fell asleep at the wheel.

True, I've thought this as well, but I think one reason may be that BAC is much easier to measure objectively than something such as sleep deprivation.
