Ironically, for being cheese eating surrender monkey's the French were responsible for quite a few advancements in military technology and theory. Modern military organisation was developed in the 1760's-1790's, the corps systems. They developed adavancements in rifle musket technology(mini ball). Developed an excellent 75mm field gun and a Frenchman made the first revolver with a cartridge that combined the bullet powder and primer, the pinfire cartridge.
