Suggestions on bar bell weight clips

What's up folks, I am looking for some sturdy, inexpensive collars for an Olympic barbell. Something to hold 300+ pounds on there while doing deadlifts.

Not those spring loaded pieces of crap or anything made of plastic. Yet something that is quick to release and engage.

Just point me in the right direction.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy some plastic or metal clamps. They look like grippers...in the hardware section.

I use a rabid pitbull on each of my bar.
They add some weight and never let go.

Oh yeah I know the kind--seen 'em in your pictures.

They work really well, easy to get on, and hold the weight tightly.

b-fold- I got some yesterday (at wal-mart). They are black plastic with yellow rubber. the jaws are curved. When I put them on the bar only the plastic inner part of the jaws touches the bar, so they don't have much better grip than those damn spring clips.

Are you using any specific brand? I have also seen a kind that are made out of metal and the jaws are straight. the tips have some kind of vinyl sleeve on them. They look like they are made cheaper but that they might work better.

Any thoughts?

I use those garbage bag twist-ties, but I'm thinking that I dont lift quite as much as you.

The metal ones may work better...

I'll check out mine tomorrow and tell you what brand they are...

LOL. Yeah I need something a little stronger because the bars and weights at my gym aren't well matched. I don't think twist ties would hold 300+ lbs on the bar, especially if I failed on a rep.

I used the collars on deadlifts last week...because I only had about 2" from the end of the plates to the end of the bar...wish I would have had some clips...
