Sub-q Injections

When doing sub-q injections (my first tomorrow) with insulin needles, is it ever an issue that the needle doesnt go deep enough? Just from looking at the needle length and then pinching some skin on my abdomen I'm convinced it wont penetrate enough.

I know to do it at 90 degrees - does this mean jab it at the top of the piece of skin which you grab or on one of the sides?

Thanks for any help.. just looking for some clarification :)

A sub-q injection is into the fatty layer of tissue just beyond the skin layer so you don't need to go very deep at all. Just pinch up the skin and inject at a 90 degree angle into the pinched area. The best area for this is around the abdomen.

I'm like 2.1% bf. I've got nothing to pinch. :p
