Hi All:
I have a 13 yo son, who is already 5'10, 145. I am feeding him as much protein (red meat mostly) as he will eat, and we are working out together about 5 times per week. We do two bodyparts per workout, usually 9 sets each. He does no more than 30 lbs per hand with dumbells, and that is for bench. Usually 20 per for curls, shoulders, etc... He does abs daily.
My Question... his gym coach has told him that working out daily will "stunt his growth" I believe he may be confusing what we are doing with growth plate issues with overloading by going too heavy. I am very careful with him, as he is a very good athelete in all sports. I am just trying to teach him good work ethic, and good technique. He is stronger than I will let him lift.
I think the gym teacher is slightly short of a full load, but I would like any feedback...
Thanks ......
