I just picked up a copy of Starting Strength and can't put it down. Thanks to everyone that recommended it. After reading up on how to perform squats properly (Boy was I wrong), I learned how to position the bar below the traps and use a close grip. The problem is that I can't get my hands within the inner knurling on the bar because my shoulders aren't flexible enough. I have been positioning the bar behind my shoulders with a wide grip and slowly inching my hands as far in as I can but it hurts my shoulders. Is this OK? Is there any other stretches for tight shoulders? Forgot to mention, I have had shoulder problems in the past and have had cortisone injectons for it, so I don't want to re-injure them.
Thanks,
B
