Stretch Marks

Is there a easy way to get rid of stretch marks? Im a big guy 6'5 300lbs and been on my diet/workout 2 weeks now. I had a huge growth spurt as you can I have some god awful stretch marks from my waist up to my pecs and even on my arms shoulders etc... Is there anyway to get rid of these hideous monstrosities? It really affects my mental outlook when I look at myself as Ive just gotten into my program (and loving it by the way).

Thanks,
Harb

Ive never tried it, but I hear "retin A" is good for wrinkles, stretch marks etc. A google search should reveal a ton of info on it.

Nip it in the bud...

e and aloe, daily.
I started getting them bad on my rear, ham-glute tie-in and e and aloe seemed to help quite a bit.

Retin A works for some.

I am going to se a Derm about it in a few weeks and i will ask a few questions and ill let you know what he thinks. I was thinking of doing some off the wall shit like Chem peeling with 70% Glycolic acid and .01% injections with glycolic acid into the marks. I read a study that showed increadible results with this. Glycolic acid stimulates growth of collagen in the dermis (stretch marks are caused my the streatching and tearing of collagen strands in the dermis. Ive used Retin A and it doesnt work well (it doesnt go deep enough to the dermis to be really effective). Microdermabration is also something im looking into. Im sure there is a way to get rid of them, but you have to be willing to try somthing new (like very high strenght chem peels or something, something that hasent ben tried before).

Vitamin E oil will help a little, you really need to be using it before the stretch marks come on to benefit. Retin-A did wonders for my stretch marks, you can't even see them now. Chemical peeling isn't going to help, stretch marks start beyond the 4th layer of skin, chemical peels don't go past the second. That's the beauty of retin a, it increase turnover of new skin cells, so those deep layers where the problem is heal faster.

All of the oils everyone listed are good. I've had the same problem with stretch marks near my armpits. My plastic surgeon said he can cut them out and stitch them up again to make them look better, but that's usually too much trouble for most. He also sells some kind of cream for scars and stretch marks at his office. Going to someone like that, who specializes in cosmetics may be a good place to check.

Peace,
stretch

Chem peeling with glycolic acid does work. Glycolic acid stimulates collagen growth in the dermis, healing the marks. Retin A doesnt penatrate to the dermis, it removed the top layers and new skin grows up from underneath eventually bringing the whole mark to the surface to be peeled off.

I KNOW some clinics provide laser treatment to remove stretchmarks
in the ad section at the back of some womens magazines has adds for such treatments or you can do a search on the net

GODDAMN !!! i didnt know it was that much.
i guess it depends if u have the money and how bad u wanna get rid of them

Recently the FDA has approved the use of retin-a to
be prescribed in a much higher concentration than
before. The new cream contains a full 1% reteniol and
wil lead to permanent eradication of stretch marks
It takes a long time we are talking months here. It
of course depends on how bad they are to begin with.
You start to see some change in a few weeks and it
keeps getting better. It's new so you may need to ask
for it.

Liftsiron,
Do you mean an actual 1% trentinoin or the .1% srongest strength they have now(strongest i know of so far).
I feel SM can be removed fully if the right things are used AT THE PROPER STRENGTHS (.1 aint gonna do it, neither is 30% glycoclic acid, we need more like 70% glycolic acid). How much stinging and burning are you willing to endure to remore the SM? Im willing to endure anything. These fuckers suck!

BIGRAND I think that it is a full 1%, however I will see the doctor that prescribes it tomarrow morning, I just
tried calling her but she's not at home. It did wonders
on stretch marks on my wife left from pregency. It
took awhile and caused alot of irratation. I will post
on this tomarrow including brand name and concentration of the shit she used.

I talked to the doctor that prescribes retin-a for stretch
marks. The percentage is .1% as BIGRAND had said
not 1% as I had thought. But she said make sure to
ask for pure retin-a
not retinol or some of the other brand names containing
retin as they are no way near as effective.

I knew there was a reason to save this post in Word...if I had a dime for every time I replied to a thread about stretchmarks - SHIT, I could buy me some new skin!! LOL

OK....I'm gonna give it to ya straight there sista! I am THE QUEEN of stretchmarks (having had the four bambinos in five years). My cosmetic surgeon explained it to me like this - stretchmarks are the result of your skin literally tearing. Whether they are the result of insufficient skin elasticity (primarily genetic factor) or the result of a body thats insides have surpassed the limits of what the outside can hold (hehe) once they become visible to the eye ie from the surface - the damage has been done from the unseen and most deepest layers of the skin - THERE IS NO CREAM or LOTION or POTION that will "make them go away".....regardless of how old or new they are. Furthermore because they originate from the inside and work their way out to the surface there is NO OVER THE COUNTER anything that can be applied that will stop this process or fade it because any product that can be bought in the absence of a perscription CAN NOT penetrate the most superficial layers of the skin - PERIOD!

Now, is there anything that can be done about them via a doctor's intervention? Perhaps there is, I mean there are chemical peels and dermabrasion and the like that can be done to lessen wrinkles and blemishes that are a result of sun-damage or the normal aging process....but these conditions result from the skin's reaction to EXTERNAL forces and appear from the outermost layers and penetrate their way inward - NOT the other way around!...as in the case of stretchmarks.

There is one thing FOR SURE that will get rid of stretchmarks and that is to have the ENTIRE EFFECTED AREA of the skin surgically removed. I did have 12" of loose skin removed from my abdomen which did get rid of the vast majority of stretchmarks that I had on my abdomen (to give you an idea of how much damage occured, when I was in the final few weeks of pregnancy the muscles on my abdomen were pulled so far apart and the skin ripped so badly that on occasion you could actually see with the naked eye a small hand or foot pass underneath my own skin.....it was fast and faint, but you could see the white color show out underneath the bright red and purple of the layers of my own skin, fascia, and uterus, etc) however, the stretchmarks did extend all the way up to just a couple of inched below my sternum so there still are some stretchmarks remaining just under my navel and a few at either hip.

Now that they old (baby just turned four yrs) they are quite faded and with a good tan or proper lighting - U CAN NOT SEE THEM AT ALL......and even if you can.....SO?!

I have 4 " stretch marks that are now scars under my armpit and running into my pec.

I like them and never plan to lose them. They are wounds of war. I like to look at it this way. "Iv'e been working out so hard it's tearing the skin and now I have stretch marks to show my passion for superiority.

LOL...wounds of war is an interesting way of looking at stretch marks.
