Stomache problems....... really bad

tommboy

New member
I first started getting these stomach problems about 2-3 months ago when I started my bulking diet. 3000-4000 cals. Its a gnawing stomache that stays with me almost every day!! I have seen a doc and gotten that test done where you drink some chalky stuff and they x ray you. I also have gotten blood work done. I think it might be IBS, but I am off the diet eating regular food and I still get the bad stomache aches. It was so bad recently I lost 7 pounds because I was too scared to eat. My doc doesnt know what it is and it is really starting to effect my bodybuilding. I get severe bloating with it also ( sometimes look like im pregnant) Its hard to speculate that I have IBS since I dont really get any constipation or diaarihia ( i just feel like im sick or somethin all day. Any of you guys ever had anything like this have any guesses to what it is or advice. Im running out of ideas......

Thats the thing..... I havent been on ANY sort of diet for the past month.... !!!! And its not gluten I was tested for that im not allergic.

Post your diet. Make it as exact as possible and try to post as many examples of food combinations/food groups you eat. It may be IBS, but if your doc hasn't diagnosed you with that just yet I doubt it. Besides, this is a recent thing, right? And it started when you upped your cals (more food) for bulking, right? It's your diet. No diahhrea, no constipation. You've got it cut out for you. First thing may be some sort of intolerance to a food group - usual lactose intol., gluten allergy, etc. Second is...well...plain and simple, you're mixing too much of the wrong SHIT. The third and final option is your protein powder, but I also doubt that due to the fact that isn't giving you the runs. Otherwise it would be connected to lactose intolerance.

Either way

Post diet

Let's tweak it

I couldn't do anything about not eating. I really really had stomaches that bad. ( so bad I would be moody and yelling at everyone and just laying on the couch ALL DAY)

Anyways I want to use the big key food sources

Oatmeal eggs sausage

Steak, veggie? banna?

chicken, rice apple?

During school Ill take a 600 cal weight gainer (cyto gainer)

Whey isolate in water w/ creatine

those are the foods id eat

Perhaps that is what you need, then? A diet? Like I said - people mix whatever the hell they can think of w/out thinking. Most of our digestive systems are used to the combinations -and are built to digest everything-, but if that were true then there would be no such thing as indigestion, heartburn, diarrhea, IBS, ect... Gas and indigestion are the most common, followed by constipation and diarrhea, then heartburn..and this may just result in IBS when not careful. I'm sure you've had the gas/bloat reaction after a good pizza or mcdonalds meal.

You've got to remember that you naturally mix a lot when on a bulking diet fundamentally to get all your carbs and protein in. Emphasis on those two in particular. Those two, however, are sometimes the leading cause in gastrointestinal disorders.

A person should always think before performing an action- even if that action is eating. The people on here spend their lives working on their bodies to get fit for competitions and such. You say you haven't eaten anything for 7 days and lost a crapload of weight.. you're taking the babysteps to muscle breakdown, already hindering your results. Diet is very simply defined as your daily eating routine. That is what I'm asking of you...you MUST have had some sort of bulk eating routine before you started getting gas/bloat/uneaseness.

Forgive for the long post

When I get the aches my stomache feels really gassy and when I make a burp come out it is kind of relieving for my stomach......... is that normal?

The main symptoms of indigestion are:

Pain, which may be in the upper part of the abdomen or the chest. This may not always be related to eating.
Heartburn, a burning pain caused by reflux (regurgitation) of the stomach's contents back up the oesophagus (gullet). The medical term for the condition is gastrooesophageal reflux (GORD). The pain is normally felt in the centre of the chest or behind the sternum (breastbone). If severe, it can be hard to distinguish from a heart attack.
Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
Flatulence, burping or belching.Indigestion has several causes. Depending on the cause, the symptoms may occur for a short time only, they may return intermittently, or they may be regular and prolonged.

There are certain indigestion symptoms that could be associated with a serious underlying condition such as an ulcer (see the separate BUPA factsheet on stomach ulcers) or occasionally cancer. Anyone experiencing any of the following symptoms in addition to indigestion should get advice from their GP:

unintended weight loss,
new symptoms in anyone over 45 years old who has not previously suffered any indigestion problems,
severe pain.
Urgent medical treatment is needed for anyone who experiences the following symptoms:

vomiting with specks of blood or blood that looks like coffee-grounds,
vomiting fresh, red blood.
What causes indigestion?
The stomach produces a strong acid that helps digest food and protects against infection. A layer of mucus lines the stomach, oesophagus and intestines to act as a barrier against this acid. If the mucus layer is damaged, acid can irritate the tissues below.

With heartburn, the sphincter (valve) at the join between the oesophagus and stomach does not work properly, allowing reflux of the stomach contents.

Some of the following things can make the symptoms worse:

Eating a heavy meal.
Drinking excess alcohol.
Smoking.
Irregular meals, because long gaps between meals allow the acid more time to act. Each meal neutralises the acid for a while.
Stress and anxiety.
Drugs such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory medication used to treat arthritis.
Pregnancy, which commonly causes heartburn, indigestion or vomiting.
Peptic ulcer (stomach ulcer), which is a raw patch in the lining of the stomach or the small intestine. See the BUPA factsheet, Stomach ulcer for more information.

clean. it. up.

get yourself down to very VERY basic major nutrient providers for 14 days.

Brown rice to start. Chicken breasts. pick low glycemic veg/salad choice, flax oil

THAT'S IT. no kidding, you are TRUELY concerned about the cause of your pain? commit to finding out WHAT it is that is causing it. You eat not a damn thing for two boring weeks but this stuff, no beers, nada. If you still have the pain, i suggest seeing GI spcialist to test for Amoebics and for Gastrointeritis, but you will almost certainly NOT have the problems... Then start reintroducing your 'preferered' foods ONE AT A TIME to see what is the trigger.

If you think this is too much work, or too boring to do, then your ailments must not be that bad. This is easy, it works. Try it.

thats what Im going to do (when I get back from vacation in a week) what do you suggest for breakfeast choices...... No fruit I take it???? Also I just dont understand how this could be it when I never had stomach problems before and now I do..... (with eating w/e I want)

Our bodies change all the time Bro...

I developed a Seafood allergy like overnight...

Sucks, but that is how it works

On the other hand, this is how we move from being fat f..cks to diced dudes... :-)

Sounds exactly like the symptoms I get from eating dairy. More specifically cream, or sour cream. I'm willing to bet it's dairy related. I didn't develop this until i was in my mid 20's.

Yea I cut out dairy and sypmtoms went down, but still there.

It may be the oatmeal...I was in extreme, and I do mean extreme pain the other day from eating oatmeal. I mixed it with water, and left it in my bag for a few hours, and then ate it. I could not even move an inch, or the pain would be excruciating to me.

It went away after about 4-5 hours...I was bloated and sharp stabbing pains were all over, they even extended all over my torso. I ate oatmeal the same way the next day, thinking it was just some weird expereince, and it happened again to me.

If your talking about bloating, extreme gassiness, and sharp, very intense stomach pains that make it impossible to perform the simplest of tasks, like even stand, this is what I had. Is this similar?

No I can stand but like right now I ate a steak.... (thats it) And I have extreme bloating and my stomache hurts I dont want to do anything cause of it. I also get these weird cravings for food. Like pizza and stuff I crave them horribly when this happens. I just crave food after I just ate !!!!

The fact is we DO change. If you have a GI injury or sensitivity because of some enviromental or internal factor, then things that were creamy are no longer. HEAL THY GUT, dude, do me a favor?

Post a thread on this forum right now, called TOMMBOY log: and list every single thing that enters your mouth, i mean every bonghit, every glass of water, piece of gum, grain of rice, EVERYTHING... do it. start right now and dont woos out and blow it off. You want help? I am willing to do this WITH you, just do it like you mean it.

EVERYTHING... lets see if between the bazillion of us we might find an obvious mistake or series of things you are doing.... just worth trying is all.

AND go see a GI doctor. I have a hunch, but i aint no sawbones, so i dont give medical advice, capiche?

If you do think it is IBS, eat slower, a lot slower, I had that problem for a while. It may take longer but you feel so much better. Put your spoon or fork down after every bite. Try it for one day, it worked for me.

Have to agree with this. I used to get terrible stomach aches and diarrhoea when I was younger, then when began eating slowly and added more fibre to my diet the problem seemed to go away.

However, Tommboy's problem seems a lot more complicated than this. It must have something to do with a reaction to some type of food he eats. Either that or he has increased his calories too quickly and his body is not used to it.

Severe constipation maybe?

Medication?

Dairy?

Intestinal parasites---gross but very possible. Google it!

Man, I had something similar and it was my gall bladder. I got to where I couldn't eat anything but baked chicken and plain brown rice. It sucked. They removed my gall bladder and I'm fine now. I still can't eat much dairy though.

Are you serious about your gall bladder???? What tests did you do to find this out???

Yeah, I'm serious. Funny thing is, the tests showed that it worked well, almost too well. But, considering I had all the symptoms, they took it out anyways. Apperently, I wasn't responsive to the tests. I've been feeling fine since. But that's just me. Go get checked out by a doc. Try to narrrow down foods to see what bothers you. For me, anything really fatty would bother me REALLY bad. If I would eat something really fatty, I would vomit, or come really close.

my quick thoughts...
could be a microbial problem. are the untensils, cups , plates you use clean and sanitary? when you eat oats etc. are they adequaetly cooked? I ask becasue i have had the same problems and usually from fruits, veges, wet oats etc. these foods are excellent for microbial growth, and they are restriceted when someone is immunocompromised becasue of the potential of infection. i would check these few areas. like the chef said, reduce your food intake to a couple safe things to find out the cause, this is the only way to pinpoint it!!! then slowly add foods

I have gone to the store and picked up some rice and chicken... But im leaving for vacation in 2 days and it would be pointless to start right now. Ill keep you guys updated the day I get back ( 1 week)

PS: how do you guys make and store your rice? It takes like 40 mins do you just make a lot and refridge the rest?

StellarTiggy said:
Meanwhile, have you tried that 1 day diet I offered? honestly. If you don't feel like following it, that is fine. I just want to know if you've given it a try or not.

I make my rice fresh every day... have to wake up early though... and that can be a pest... but I don't eat that much rice anyway, about 3 times/week

Pintoca

why stay sodium free and what seasons do you use thatll make it taste good im horrible in that part of the cooking department

Sorry to repeat myself here, but digestive disorders/problems are really tricky to tackle as diagnosis can reveal a multitude of disorders and yet not yield any conclusive results at all.

I think that white chalk & x-ray procedure was carried out to determined if you had parasites in your intestinal tracts or not.

IBS pateints do not normally have parasites and can manifest itself in a variety of symtoms such as constant bloatedness interchanged intermittently with diarrhea & constipation, the feelings of incomplete evacuation, irregular bowel movements, poor nutrients absortpion & assimiliation, feelings of fatigue and tiredness etc..

Stress is a HUGE factor as there are millions of neurons in your intestinal tracts that are directly connected to your brain /mind. They trigger a response in your digestive tract that you would have never envisioned of.

CHefWide's suggestion is a start. Keep your diet very basic. The problem is that you may have some kind of food allergy too, which you were never aware of (or suspected of).
Seriously, I would look at this problem HOLISTICALLY as supposed to medically.
I once was attacked with IBS-like symtoms which made me on the verge to insanity, but as I let go of the basics like the need to fulfill my daily calorie and protein intake, all the vitamins and gear I needed for the day, I began to see positive results with my IBS... I stressed less and became much smaller in size and frame for a few months.
Once I was convinced that I was 80% better, I slowly resumed what I had and be more cautious of what I put into my body as well as my mind.

I just went through a serious bout of something similar. I am on a precontest diet, extra clean, no shakes, so I know its not the diet. I could hardly eat or drink anything hot, it felt like my food was getting stuck going down. It feels like a lump in your throat that moves slow with severe pain, and more pain when it gets to the bottom of your stomach. I burped like crazy and DAM DID THAT HURT! I went to the doc, I have severe acid reflux AND I'm on med for it. I'm not a doc but sounds similar.
I was also talking to a guy at my work who had exactly the same thing. He linked it to herb tea. Guess what I started drinking a ton of this a couple weeks ago too. I'm tossing it tonight and I will be playing with this and the medds, I'd rather not be taking anything. If its the tea I can stop it and the meds.

Weird question: I have been pooping red mucous looks like bloody mucos. .... Is that a symptom of IBS im pretty sure it is it has happened to me before but just a little freeked cause it feels like I gotta fart and then that comes out so now I gotta be carefull about my farts! lol

and again still on vacation and cant really do anything diet wise.

I have minor acid reflux disease too...for me the acid gets reflux all the way to the throat giving me light burning sensations every now and then.
Despite the condition being of gastrointestinal disorder in nature my specialist said that stress play a role too.
I am taking miracid 3x daily after meals with it.

Red mucous?

Bro, I'd seriously get it checked out.. go and see a specialist and at the very least get your stool examined.

I believe the stress thing, my doctor told me that too. I am going through a buch of personal stress right now, which I'm trying to work through. I have no doubt this has something to do with it.

Google Acidophilus. It's a herbal supplement that helps ease stomach discomfort.
