I am about to walk into a gym I used to go to on a daily basis (due to injury - I haven't been there in over 4 years)
I stopped in yesterday and now it's ALL different, (I SWEAR people must wipe the plates off after each use - cause' they are spotless)
I mean the gym is "beautiful", but give me days of "old" anytime.............
Another Gym - another place in time
I remember when I was just starting out - I used to lift at a Local Boys Club. It was 50 cents/visit (back in the late 80's/ early 90's). You'd walk in on a summer day, and the stench of sweat, ass, workout outfits that had NEVER been washed, etc - it was great............
you'd have to open a couple of doors to get that always-elusive "cross-breeze" - but all these doors served as was quick exits - reserved for when you would finish your 6th set of squats and you'd have to puke, - all the while trying not to shit your pants too.............
I miss those days - but with the help of a few trusted items - I just might find that place again - somewhere...........
My hats off to the guys who - (despite the changing times) - have always stuck to "old basics" - cause that's what it's all about. You guys provide me with a new sense of dedication and inspiration at a time where I don't just want my old physique back - but where I am actually wondering if I still have what it takes to be that "animal" again......
Only time will tell.............
Peace
