Steroids & the mind

Nutrient-Nut

New member
I read that Winstrol is psychoactive, in other words, it has a significant effect on the mood or mental state. And depression is very common after it's use is discontinued.

Don't all steroids exhibit this trait? Why is it that everyone says that Dianabol (D-bol) is the only steroid that gives a user a sense of well being?

NN

I think if steroids made us all act like Nathan we would all be a bunch of skinny fucks. ;)

Stanozolol can have an effect on benzodiazepam receptors in the brain, which in turn can lead to depression post-cycle if it is the last item used. The key is using other items well past it to avoid this malady.BTW,MOST anabolics are psycho-active in one aspect or another,it isn't necessarily a horrible thing though,as everyone responds differently to that effect.Testosterone often imparts a feeling of well being in most users,as does d-bol,and the very fact that you are becomming bigger and stronger can indirectly give most users a very satisfied feeling.

Thanks for the response! I read Huck's article about Winstrol's Effects and therefore posted this thread, b/c I've always heard that D-bol was the only feel good steroid. It makes sense that they all are psychoactive to some degree.

Dbol reacts somehow with the dopamine receptors in the brain, that's why it gives the user a sense of well being. I just read an article about it in testosterone magazine, volume 7.

I too think it depends on the person or the mood at that particular time. I've never had a problem (besides slight aggression bump) but I recently broke up with my girlfriend and I got to tell you, was I (and still somewhat) experiencing wild mood swings...from huge bouts of depression to being totally happy. The workouts have kept me sane, but man did she do a number on me...damn women.

This is a good topic for discussion. Like alot of people on these board I have had alot of problems in the past with anxiety, rage, and depression. For the most part I think it is very common on this board for 2 reasons. The first being everyone has anxiety, and its how severe we have it that makes us get things done (motivation) or hinders us when it become to over whelming. Just to go the extra distance and think about or use a substance (that could pose health problems) to make us bigger or better, leads me to believe most people on here have peristant thoughts of being regular or ordinary isnt fine by no means. Second I believe there are alot of type "A" personalities, the doers, the road rage, go fuck off or I will kick your ass aggressive type personalities, that have high motivation to get things done, which in my mind equals mental stress we put on ourselves. This is can be both a positive and a negative tools to help us through life, no explanation needed. From my experiences I think most anabolics or even for the sake of this discussion a womens time of the month, have a high tendency to increase the of the turn over, production, and metabolic process of neurotransmitters. I do think it has to do with genetics, psychological factors, and of course individual reactions to some compounds. Just as reuptake inhibitors exhurt there well being physiology on are brains, so doesnt the increased metabolic process which is a state we are trying to achieve mostly through muscle anabolism, but not limited too. A good thing to do is to do experiments on yourself with supplements like 5-htp, l-tyroisne, valerian, kava, ect to determine tools that can be used, you can use if your suseptable for emotional problems, even and only if it is during the time of using foreign substances. my .02 cents
P.S. my spelling sucks
