what the fuck is with that schedule!?!?!?! 6 am start time still? thats fine and dandy and all but at least have more replay of the show during the day... i'll be lucky to catch the same hour of the show i caught before.. i was hoping to be able to catch more on my way home from work but they are still going with the howard news for 5 fucking hours...

good thing for octane station, and alt nation, and raw dog comedy, and... oh, fuck it... good thing Sirius has a ton more going for it then just stern.

from what I understand it will be replayed in the evening.

some people have listened to stern for 20+ years at 6am, so if they change that all those people complain.

The hardware I saw holds 50 hours of programming like DVR/Tivo does for TV>. you can tape it daily and listen to it at your convenience.

Is he acting the fool on Sirius?

Faction / 28.

And how come there are commercials? I thought the whole idea was for it to be subscription based and therefore commercial free???

I can't believe the mass followers this Stern guy holds. Must be an American thing. It's unbelievable how sheep-ish the US is. lol
isn't it like school yard sex humor over and over and over

he's consistently funny.. very hard to find.. we usually find someone funny, use them up for all they are worth, and move on to the next person.. he's a real guy, not an act.

I hope my bro records the show, I really want to hearthe first one.

I definately thought they'd replay the shows through out the day. The previosu format out here in L.A. when he was on radio was the show live from NY at 3:00 AM our time (6:00 AM eastern), then at 6:00 AM they'd rebroadcast the entire show from begining to end. That way most of the L.A. people could catch the show.

It's kind of sad how much power Stern holds though. Kind of like Oprah in a way. Every guy bitches and moans about how women follow Oprah with their lifeline, but the same applies to Stern. His mass followers live and die by Stern (which is plenty), isn't that why Sirius paid him such big bucks.....

The sad thing is that I have seen interviews with him and he is a very intelligent man, unfortunately he is wasting it on 4th grade humor lude humor and topics. It's a waste of how brilliant of a personality that he is.

He is extremely intelligent. And anyone who thinks his show is all bathroom humor obviously has not listened to his show.

First off, lets establish the fact that no one agreed with any one person 100% of the time. Having said that, you listen to the show, you may not agree or find everything funny. I say I find 80% of it funny.. and a solid 50% of that 80% hilarious.

His show is about how he sees the world.. if you've been with him all 20 years you will have followed that progression the whole time and its facinating.. different staff... bosses.. studios.. his life has changed.. divorce.. GF... he's RICH as hell now... etc. his show has evolved as time has gone one.

His "bits" are usually well thought out and written.. and then the rest is just him. commenting on life.. the news.. things that happens in his day.. interactions between him and people in his life.

that's all it's ever been on his TV show
so I was assuming his radio cast would be about the same

while we're on the subject I highly recommend '88s Talk Radio
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096219/
Often overlooked ,'Talk Radio' is one of Oliver Stone's most enduring pieces of work. It's based on a radio play written by Eric Bogosian who is the main character in this, the film version .Bogosian delivers a powerful performance as the tortured, acerbic DJ shock-jock Barry Champlain.

Bogosian's play itself is based on the death of Denver DJ Alan Berg who was shot dead in 1984 by a White Power/Aryan group known as The Order.

Bogosian delivers a brilliant performance as Champlain - a former tailor's assistant in Dallas who is discovered by a local DJ and after audition, becomes a late-night DJ on a radio station.

The basic storyline is that Champlain does a nighttime show called 'Nighttalk' where he gets to talk live to various sick and twisted individuals who ring up. The characters who inhabit Champlain's life are Laura - his lover and assistant, Stew - his producer and similarly-sarcastic wit played by Stone favourite John C.McGinley and Dan the hard-nosed boss played by the brooding Alec Baldwin.

Overall, 'Talk Radio' is a sombre and serious piece brilliantly acted all around. The script is co-written by Bogosian and Oliver Stone and is intelligent and vibrant.

I can thoroughly recommend this film to all lovers of serious, character-driven movies.

Stern has addressed that in interviews.. for the TV show they are taking a 4 hour radio show and condensing it to about 22 minutes of air time, so they always looked for the most OUTRAGEOUS material, he said that if he had to do it again, he would have liked to have lower rating for the TV show, but a better representation of what his show is about.

Give him a listen sometime man, make up your mind for yourself.

When I first heard him i had no clue who he was.. he was just taking calls and I was like "wow this guy is smart.. and he thinks a lot of the same things I do but you can never say..." I kept tuning in.
