Stealth surfing...how to do it?

I don't want people to know that I spend too much time doing little on the internet.

Web pages have my email address. They can enter that name and know when I am surfing.

Can I stop that easily?

I use msn

People can enter your email and know you are surfing?

damn, t boy

i thought my pops was paranoid when he started talking about the peeps next door had a satellite dish that they used to make his back hurt

but your cumulative paranoia has topped his single statement :)

stop giving your email to web pages and they won't have them!!!!!!!!!! Get spyware software and an AK-47 cuz once they do find out you spend too much time doing little they WILL kill you!!

I lol'ed at the satelite making the back hurt ;)

C'mon...everybody knows that you can enter the email addresses of people and be notified when they are online.

I forgot what it is called though.

Its for knowing when your friends are available online.

Sort of like EF's Online vs offline feature.

You can set a flag to allow only people in your contact list to see your online status, just as you can be invisible in the preferences here.

It takes awhile if you want to hide your IP like on EF as it checks all code for maliciousness. It changes your IP everytime you log onto and assigns you a new one but it doesnt rotate while you are on a surfing session so that you are recognized. For smaller webpages its fine for most sites and you are completely anonymous, you can add it to your toolbar. you can also proxyserve under highanonymization to mask your IP addy

I think what he was asking about is the online status in messenger, although sometimes I think his paranoia knows no bounds.

Yeah, I just saw that later as an example, I just thought he was talking about being anonymous so that websites cant log his IP when he surfs or be tracked by outside sources. I understand the messenger thing but if a person has a service that remains connect ie not dialup, it shows that he is online all the time so that it makes no sense to track him that way, that is just a weird and flawed thing to do and if he's that paranoid he can uninstall messenger or at leasest change IM settings.

Remember folks, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that people are not out to get you. :wodin:

Be afraid, be very afraid. :worried:

Only half should be.

The other half are agents. :chomp:

Proof has been offered about 100 times. Those who don't know it lack comprehension skills or don't read many posts.

"We are many."

If you are talking about IM programs like MSN or Yahoo, turn them off when you are online if you don't want friends to know you are on. If you are just talking about a general e-mail addy and people being able to tell, then no, they can't tell.
