Statement From Ziplip Regarding Security

Immortal Juicer

Well-known member
With all the discussion about the security of ziplip email accounts, I decided to email ZL and ask about the level of security they provide and how they compare to hushmail. Here is their response:

-------------------------------------------------------

1. ZipLip now includes the IP address of individuals using the system in the header of the message because many users were using it illegally to send
messages for spam, harrassment, or abuse purposes via standard mail. The primary use by these individuals was as an anonymous email service, which is not the core focus of ZipLip. ZipLip's core focus is secure email, which is not the same
as anonymous.

2. Showing IP addresses does not make a system insecure, it simply removes anonymity of the sender. ZipLip secure email is just as secure as it has always been using encryption on transport, delivery, and storage. Simply because the
sender's IP address is included in standard mails, again, does not make the system less secure, just not anonymous.

Furthermore, through its secure email sending, ZipLip does not include the IP address of the sender in the message. So if a user needs to retain this anonymity, they can continue to do so via secure email sends.

That makes it worthless then.
Whats the point of secure email without beeing anonymous?
Cyber-rights is the best.

elitemail, cyberrights, and hush all use same encryption engine,

by the way immortal, why you think i don't use that fucking ziplip account anymore!!!!

I think everyone is missing a point here.

They are saying that as long as you send a SECURE email, that it does NOT show the IP address.

"through its secure email sending, ZipLip does not include the IP address of the sender in the message"

Its only when you use it to send a REGULAR email does it then show the IP address.

"Simply because the sender's IP address is included in standard mails ..."

I think that as long as you send them "secure" you are still fine.
