starting ckd diet...ughhhh help me get through it!!

so after bulking for what seems like forever, and going from 190 to 228, its time to get rid of the gut that has accumulated. just started the ckd yesterday, and fuck its hard, im craavvving bread and cereal right now dammit!!!! leave me some motivation!
 
Well I can tell you that it`s most difficult in the beginning. The first week or two were hard for me, Then it was`nt a problem after that. Stick it out bro. Think of the fat loss. lol

I went down from 230 to 200 last year on a CKD btw. Cut my bodyfat in half. 20`s% to 10%
 
Yes, just hang in there. The cravings are always the worst coming off a bulk. Once your body gets used to being in ketosis you'll feel much better (usually takes around 7-12 days before I feel normal).
 
how many times a week did you guys do cardio? i think im going to be doing about 3-4 days a week 40min a day (about 600 cals) does this ound excessive?

get through the first week or so and you'll be fine
enlist your friends to give you moral support
when craving think: do i want to lose body fat or stay the way i am

dr atkins suggested glutamine for carb cravings
i use it when craving alcohol

everyone is doing ckd diets and its kinda inspiring me to try it out to get ripped but I can't find exact examples of how to eat and exactly how to go about it. I noticed this doctor sells this book called "the ketogenic diet" and i wonder if this book lists what to do. is the atkins diet the same thing as ckd?
 
no atkins is a ketogenic diet
but not well suited for bodybuilders
no refeed or carb up days allowed
it is strictly a cutting diet
i was on it for over 2 months
i am on ckd but go back when i hit a plateau
check any of mr X's stickys or swolecat's webpage for more info on diets suitable for bodybuilders

No that sounds reasonable. If you notice you're losing more than 1.5 to 2 lbs. a week I'd cut back. But I generally did 3 days of cardio (low intensity for 45 mins. to an hour) and didn't lose much muscle mass (at least as far as I could tell).

The 2nd day of ketosis (first time) is the hardest due to the lowest insulin levels. Not to worry, within the first 3 weeks of the diet any problem that you encounter now: cravings, tiredness, mood-swings etc...will ALL be gone. In fact, you'll feel like you've got more energy than you ever have had in your whole life, just stick it out my man.

3rd day of keto, im struggling but gettin thru it. anyone else in college and on keto? when i ordered my tuna and mayo with no bread people were lookin at me like i was fuckin nuts.
 
Matt, yes, I'm in college and on keto. I don't have any problems. People stare at me anyways, unless I'm in baggy clothing. People here think tiny 180 ibs 10-12% guys are big, and "look like they are on steroids" so what is one to do?

Ok, your tuna with mayo sounds pretty nasty to me too. Ground beef with lettace, walnutts and olive oil is more to my liking.

lots of restaurants now acknowledge lo carbers
if still a hassle bring your own food
just remember to refrigerate perisible foods
if you need ideas check my thread on muscle food
 
yeah guys just takes some getting used to, this is my first time ever being on a strict diet. what kind of fat burners are you guys using on ur keto diets? So far ive bulked naturally and now want to cut naturally and learn my body, since this is only my 3rd year of serious training.

well it is hard the first time for everyone
when i did atkins i did not use any fat burners
once in awhile l-glutamine the first two weeks when i craved alcohol
a good multivitmin
and antiox

now i take l-carnitine, efa's, tyrosense(i am hypothryoid), b6, gugglupid, kelp, chromium, selenium, cla/ala and cayenne

found while i was on atkins i did not consume enough fat
but i lost quite a bit anyway
 
4th day on ckd, my cravings have finally gone away, though the cutting back on calories man, wow!! I feel hungry 24/7, but im sure my appetite will start to go down after a while. Well anyways, when i started the diet weighed in at 228lbs (im 6'2, and im guessing around 15-16% bodyfat), last night was 223lbs, probably A LOT of water weight, but results none the less.

I was a little weak but not really too bad for my workout monday night, i did notice though that i got burned out a little earlier, so maybe one or two of my later sets suffered. But overall, i already feel better, and hope to keep this up till about mid january!
 
matt, check out some keto desert recipes.................will help so much with cravings!!!! Liek peanut butter fudge balls or protein pudding or lo carb cheesecake.......................it'll help you get through the hard days and keep you in ketosis...

you can and it is up to you to make it til mid january

give it another few days


don't start playing with sweets yet
give you mind and body time to get accustomed to not having them
then reintroduced keto-safe dessert

Try getting a tuna salad, that might be better. If you're having problems in the 3rd day you still might not be in ketosis; make sure you're at least using Ketostix to measure ketone output.
