standard vs. olympic

I know this probably doesn't really matter, but does anybody have any real pros/cons between rather working out using standard barbell w/ weights compared to the olympic barbell w/ weights?
 
I think anyone doing some kind of olympic lifts is going to prefer the olympic/bumper plates because you can drop them.
 
well for one you have to put 75,000 plates on the bar for any even remotely decent weight to add up.

2..the bars are alot thinner and will bend.
