Just got a squat rack three weeks ago. Until that I had been doing leg extentions, curls, lunges. Went heavy last night and went for a run today and damn are my legs on fire! II thought my legs were in good shape, guess there really is no substitute for the basic squat.
 
Good job, squats are the single most important exercise that you can do!
 
There is no better excercise for overall strength and size than squats. Just remember to keep your back straight and head up. Proper form is a must, the weight will come on easy. Once you get the form down then the rest is easy. Good luck....
