SQUATS with Power Blocks

Girlwonder

New member
Those of you who have power block dumbells, when you do squats or deadlifts, are they too blocky that they brush off your legs when you do those exercises?? Please reply

I think you will find for most guys here that powerblocks dont hold enough weight to be used for deads/squats.

OH, power blocks are great. They are smaller than most other brands of dumbells of the same weight and therefore easier to balance too. The only let down is that you cant throw them around or drop them or bang them together. The taking care of them does distract me a bit when going to failure.

You CAN do squats with powerblocks but that is not what they are intended for. They are intended to replace dumbells not a straight bar and weights.

So do they tend to brush off your legs when you do squats??? please answer my question...:(

Any dumbbells, Power Blocks included, brush your legs when you do squats with them. It isn't a big deal. It's not like they gouge and gash your legs when you go up and down.

..:( oh

But someone replied saying that the Power blocks tend to be too BLOCKY (that they brush off your skin) and that it was the only disadvantage....

Big deal. They brush off your skin. Better than nothing. Use whatever you can until you have access to a power rack so that you can do your squats and deadlifts using a bar and weight plates.

I don't find Powerblocks much blockier than regular dumbells. The big disadvantage to Powerblocks aren't the fact that they are blocky. The big disadvantage is that when you are doing movements like the chest press, you can't really bang the weights together real hard. And, of course, you can't drop the weights on the ground real hard either when you are lifting heavy. The Powerblocks aren't intended to take that abuse. I don't like Powerblocks for that reason.

You can squat with dumbells. Just try and hold them like you were getting ready to do a shoulder press and then squat down. That way there not banging against your legs. I don't know if that's what you were asking, but...
