Squat Troubles

The Red Dragon

New member
After coming off a 2 month break (Don't ask), I squatted. I lost about 20 lbs on my squat this day and I noticed after my first 2 sets my muscles started to cramp up involuntarily. This involved quite a bit of pain. My legs hurt for a week after that. 2 weeks later my squat is down 40 lbs and I noticed my quads aren't as flexible & my stabilization has degraded? What happened? I know there's a psycological effect as I switched from a commercial gym back home to a dilapidated university gym. Since I got on campus though I have been doing LOTS of walking. Hmm could it have been from the summer ketosis? Although all my other lifts were pretty much as I left them...wonder if I got some quad injury.

2 months off, will weaken the muscles greatly and the tendons will not be use to the stress. That is why you get sore so long after a big layoff. I think you are going to heavy in the first place, after 2 months you are trying to use around the same weight as before??? I would go down another 50lbs and work on form cause your stabilizers are not as strong as they were and you are not conditioned to do this type of workload anymore

hows your diet? your starting to tax the body again after a break...your gonna need to adjust the diet accordingly. More calories, more carbs for energy to make it thru the leg day. Itll all come back though, just give it time
