SQUAT TRAINING.....Knees Clanking....

gizzle

New member
I have my client doing shoulder width squats and for some reason, I hear alot of weird sounds emanating from her knees as she goes up and down. So I had her try taking a wider stance, and I always tell her to keep her knees pointed outward along with her toes, and to never wobble her knees. Her form seems to be decent, but still I hear those sounds! :worried: What could she be possible doing wrong?? I mean I don't want to injure the poor lady...Any suggestions??

is there knee pain?
what are your warmups before squatting?
what stabilization exercises are you doing?
what shoes is she wearing?

Theres like a thousand things you should check on...as her trainer, you really need get her knees supported/stabilized (wraps maybe?) or the cartilage in her knees will be effed up big time.

I think what you are hearing is the PCL traveling across the medial meniscus during the movement. Try having her "spread the floor" with her feet as she drives up and see if that reduces the noise.

And get pictures if you can. For scientific purposes of course.

spread the floor means to try and pull your feet apart while squating to have the knees track along a specific path. im sure you can find 1000000000 pictures of females doing correct form squats online.

if your joints are making noises during a lift there is something wrong. ignoring that will worsen the problem. eventually you will suffer from it.
