I injured my back about six months ago and haven't been able to put more than 185 on my back without discomfort or pain. It was a stupid injury too. I hurt a rotator cuff and to be able to get back under the bar for squats, I had to bring my grip in close. Well, that caused my elbows to stick out too far past my back...they weren't level with the plane of my back. That caused my injury and keeps me from doing back squats today, but doesn't keep me from doing deadlifts or front squats. Front squats are a staple of mine now. I could never do clean grip so that limited me until I found a sting ray. It's like those manta ray things (which I despise!), but it's for front squats. God, is that thing great! Makes all the difference in the world. Hopefully, I'll have back squats back in my routine this summer. We'll see...I miss 'em!
