Spyware...WTF?? Someone help my ignorant ass please.

I've dl'ed spybot search and destroy and ran it on my computer. It found a bunch of shit and said that it was immunized but I am still getting pop-ups (i have a pop up blocker) and links are still appearing under certain words. What's going on?

Also look in Documents and Settings/various users/Application Data/Microsoft/Internet Explorer

The shit in there is nearly always all spyware and toolbars that you don't need.

The pop-ups you are getting are likely not related to web page content, but instead the Windows Messenger Service (which is different and not related to the MSN Messenger that comes installed in Windows these days).

That combined with some web searches can help your sorry ass out if you combine it with the other shit too.

In the end, I am getting tired of Windows - I don't have any of these problems on my Mac.
These issues used to seem normal to me until I started being the admin of a network of this shit - it is amazing how little of Windows actually works as a whole. It is no problem at all when it is just one knowledgeable user on it - but when you get 20+ idiots using it, it is an unstoppable force of sucking.
