Sprained my Ankle....

It's just starting to heal properly, but I haven't been to the gym in a week or so... Do you guys think I should wait another week? I don't want to break anything. I've never had an ankle or leg injury, this is new to me.

why not just work your upper body this week and see how your ankle is doing after that ... I have squatted with a wrapped up strained ankle before. I couldn't walk very well but static exercises went well.

I'd give it another week to make sure it's healed. I've sprained my ankles quite a few times in the past and have tried pushing myself back into activity too quickly, just delayed my progress.

I would do what Mr.Pink suggested and work your upper body being VERY careful not to disturb your ankle.

Damit! missing time from the gym because of injuries sucks! now you'll probably turn into some fat 21yrl kid that sells steroids to support a cocaine habit, and has to pay models to take pictures so he can post them on the internet and tell people it is him.

j/k

I say you should give it another week and then get back in the gym. Start off slow. Just remember you need to walk on it, it will heal faster than if you are immobile. I hope you get better soon bro.

Good memory bro, lol

Yeah, I don't think I can even train my upper body since moving heavy dumbells around will be a problem.

do like Puff Daddy and hire a man servant to set up the dumbels for you.

Serious, ask your training partner to help you out a bit.

Just avoid all leg movements except perhaps extensions and lying leg curls...stick to machines for upper body for a week...the change may even do some good ....new stimulus = new growth!

You guys have training partners?

Maybe I should look into that.

I can't put my weight on the bad ankle and going down the stairs is a bitch... looks like I'll have to wait... this ruins my cycle. :(

Andy....I don't know why you're chalking this up as a total loss....Im in the sports medicine field for my job....and I know...you can aggressively rehab even a SEVERE ankle sprain to the point of being able to at least train upper body effectively...I've done it before...use crutches to go up and down stairs....and like I said above...go heavy on the machines for awhile....sure, the wheels may suffer a bit from not being able to do heavy presses or squats...but hit the extensions and lying leg curls hard..this may be a good opportunity to utilize some shock principles...10 sets of 10 to failure..3 sets of 100 reps...I could go on and on with how to improvise...and make the best of this bad situation...let me know if you need any ankle advice...good luck !
