I had a boss once that had the same solution to every problem:
Problem: Database engine keeps crashing.
Answer: Add a server to the farm.
Problem: User sessions timing out:
Answer: Add a server to the farm.
Problem: FedEx arriving late.
Answer: Add a server to the farm.
Essentially what I think is being seen here is the need for a co-lo and putting the data onto a nice netapp or something.
