Source asking for profile?

Good day to all, I have a question for you guys. I have had dealing in the past concerning business transactions with sources that ask for references, but never asking for forums I belong to or screen names. Is it normal for these questions to be asked for their own confirmation, and security? To insure legitimatcy in transactions? Maybe a dumb question, but had to ask.

General information. How were you refered to this site. If you belong, What forum do you post? Who reffered you? (board name) What is your board screen name? I e-mailed general information back. They e-mailed me back. Please give screen name in forum. Normal?

My guy's alway's ask the first time what board's you belong to and what your screen name is. It's one more way to protect their ass.

I can't see any way it compromises your identity any further. It's a good sign that they're covering their asses by doing some checking up on you.

They just want to see some history,they are taking as big a risk as you are. Especially if they are legit...

some source WILL indeed ask for references before dealing with you.

a safety meaure to make sure youre not a fed.
although i think a poor measure as the feds spend years on the boards and can probalby provide a bunch of references from sources they order from.

still, for some sources its a measure of comfort.

Yeah, it is normal for alot of people to do if your email addy isn't your screen name on the particular site that reffered you. I have seen it a thousand times

It is just so that they can do a little background check on you. They can view your posts to see if you are fishy, or are a dumbass, or are causing trouble by giving a little TOO MUCH INFO. You know, the ususal.

Don't worry about it, and thank them for doing their homework It keeps EVERYONE safer in this day and age

I can understand from their viewpoint. "Trust, but verify". Protect themselves,protect the community. Makes sense.

It is not so much what forum and screen name that is needed. A source will usually want the info of those you have dealt with in the past. Any fed can go online for a year and have 500+ posts and look good.

So basically, if you've dealt with a few well known source he can verify with then you're golden.

I know a bro that asks for refs...such as bro's that he has heard of and or forums that you belong to. It is OK with me...hell we try to check out sources...why not the other way around?
