Sosa for MVP????? Look at some #'s

Sosa in the month of August has hit 16 Hr's in 11 games. Guess what? ....in those games the Cubbie's record is....... 4 W's and 7 L's. And to think they were in 1st place now they are 3 games back.

In the games that Sosa has homered the Cub's winning percentage is lower than when he doesn't.

Out of his 51 HR's 27 were hit with no one on base.

He hits an HR one in every 9 AB's. Ranked 2nd in NL

When it is a close and late in the game he has 7 Hr's but has struck out 27 times. In these same situations he is still batting .333 and OBP is .459. Ranked 2nd in NL in both HR's and K's. 12th in BA.

HR's with runners in scoring position he is hitting .327 with 31 K's and 50 BB's and 75 RBI's. Ranked 5th in NL.

Good post. I think Sosa's supporting cast is most of the problem.

Out of Bonds, Gonzalez, or Sosa, i think i would have to go with Gonzalez. Sosa is sneaking up there though.

Gonzalez has done it consistently all year. Along with Arizona making it to the playoffs, and the Cubs getting bounced out by the Astros, Sosa's chances are even slimmer. By the way, i think the Cards will finish above the Cubs down the stretch too.

I'm thinkin Sosa will go nuts these next 30 games of the year and out homer Bonds to win the home run title.

Isn't this post arguing against Sosa for MVP? That is how I took it. Rudedawg is right as good as his numbers are it seems like alot of his HR's and RBI's come when they aren't important to the outcome of the game. I think which ever team makes it to post season Arizona, Cubs, SF that player will when. If they all make I think it will go to Bonds, even though I hope it dosen't. Seems like they are going to give it to him based on what happen last year when it came down to him and Kent and that he has had several unbeilevable seasons in a row w/o winning it. Although Sosa has too.

Of course Bonds is a dick......that's nothing new. What does Sammy do that makes him rock?

McGwire is back to being McGwire....... hurt half of the season... if the dude could have played in 75% of the games in his career he would probably have already kicked Hank Aaron's ass.
