Something very strange, can a mod explain??

I just logged on and got to looking at my pm's and it seems that I had a new one, but it wasn't really new. It had been accessed. The only reason i noticed was because yesterday i had 5 but tonight i looked and saw 6 so I went into pm's and sure enough there was a pm that I have never read but it showed as being read. WTF
