Something just SNAPPED in my quad...

check your range of motion.

how much you can move the leg in question as opposed to the uninjured leg

also if you can only move it so much, can you manually move it with your hands further???

Or at least that is how it felt. It was the sharpest most intense paint i have felt in my quad ever. So here i am at work walking in VERY high heels on a carpeted floor, well the heels are very slim and i stepped down on my right foot but the heel stuck on the carpet so i sort of was falling to the right and i caught myself but landed sideways on my right foot somehow and SNAP! omg i felt this intense sharp snapping feeling in my muscle.
Immediately i had to sit down b/c i felt like i was going to pass out or puke or both. i turned pale white for about 15 min and now the pain is radiating down my leg and is leaving me with a very achy painful knee, as well as a pain in the front of my quad.

NOw i checked for some discoloration and didnt see anything. Before i run off to the doctor, what should i look for as far as if something is indeed torn (as opposed to being strained).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This just happened 20 min ago.

Also,

forgot to mention that i just got back from the gym today was leg day. and before i even started my workout i was still sore from last tuesday's leg workout.

Wow it might have aleady been a bit weak or strained... workout soreness that lasts 8 days is a bit unusual I think (especially for something like legs where you get a bit of active recovery just walking around and standing up and sitting down, etc).

range of motion seems ok however, as i am sitting here, and i try to lift the injured leg, the pain on top (in my quad) is outrageous and sharp in the spot where i felt the snap.

Backlash - yes the legs are very weak today. last tuesday as i said i had a tough leg workout then the following day, i played in a softball tourney (played 3 games that day) so my groin muscles also are sore from the sprinting and stuff. i think my legs took a beating last week which is why im still sore they havent actually recovered. so...

weak before workout + leg workout = really FKN weak

so my question really is>> what are the symptoms for a tear as opposed to the symptoms of a strain? can anyone help me here or should i just leave work early and hit up an ice pack and some ibuprofen?

you may have a strain if ROM is ok
when i tore my hammy i could not move it in either direction
but i could be wrong, IMO if it isn't feeling better in a day go to doc.

thanks d3 - i iced it , took some ibuprofen and elevatd it for a while yesterday so i thought it was feeling better this morning until....i fell over the throw rug in the kitchen thereby catching myself on my right foot ..AGAIN and experiencing the SAME snapping feeling this time not quite as bad as yesterday but nonetheless..painful. to me this means that something must be pulled or strained inside there b/c to have that much pain from just landing on your foot and placing weight on your leg, is not right. so i took more ibuprofen..no discoloration or swelling tho that i can see.

and i might also mention that YES i am a CLUTZ i always have been(in case you were wondering ) LOL
but my balance has been enhanced greatly since i have been liftin regularly.

thanks bigwhitey - compress it meaning wrap it up?? grr im supposed to have a step aerobics class tonight. should i just traing according to the pain. like if it doesnt hurt you think its ok to workout on it?

I am constantly dinged up i different ways and i haven't missed a workout in 2 years. If you can do it , do it. Compress does mean wrap it up (ace bandage) . Ice it and elevated it when your done your aerobics .

thanks for hte input guys!
Bigwhitey should i wrap it up for the aerobics class for better support in that area?

nate- LOL yah my coordination kinda sucks:rolleyes: but im so much better in recent years i believe the lifting has helped in that aspect. and i think youre right about the rolling tendons. im guessing that tendons are weakend following a workout?

Smurfy, I feel for you on the clumbsiness. I've had 3 ear surgeries, and my left inner ear is pretty mucha artificial. I have horrible balance, so I do the same sort of thing all the time. 9 years of martial arts training helped alot, and at least I don't fall down without tripping over something anymore. LoL

don't worry about being a clutz smurfy
i can't walk: i stumble, trip, drag my feet, run into things

but damnit we look sexy being clumbsy!

lol :fro:
